I bet most of you thought I forgot about this build,... no way.

I had this in the stash and thought even though its an oldie, its still a egg-fun build.



The kit is made up of two sprue trees, an upper and lower hull, two rubber band tracks and a hand full of decals.



While most know that these are made for press fit (no glue) assembly, Jarrod and I are using CA cement to ensure the items stay secure. This will be built straight from the box (OOB), wait! are you kidding me, I can never do that!

So far we've added a brass MG barrel in the hull and we are working on some other things for the turret (like a 1/35 figure) and possibly even track links (smile). Still pondering on adding more details like rivets, bolt heads, etc. Perhaps a MG on the TC ring too. Oh! and lets not forget possibly some screens for the intakes and resin stowage (snicker...ha-ha).

Super detailing an egg build? There's obviously something in the water on your side of the pond!

Between you and Scott, you're beckoning us to the dark side!

Looks interesting - I was torn between this one and the Tu-2 I eventually went for. Looking forwards to seeing how it turns out.
As for detailing an egg build - you might want to revist your guide to edible fungi, I think some hallucinogenics have crept in!!

Another little snippet of an update. Applied the base coats of the camouflage loosely based on the paint guide in instructions. Instead of using one of my airbrushes, this build, since its not serious, is going old school so a hairy stick was used. Keep in mind that this is the base coat and not the finished product.

Beginning first color


Basic colors (other than dunklegelb) is applied. Since the plastic is close to the color and the plastic is consistent, I may use it and apply the details and washes,..... or not.



Will most likely paint the dunklegelb, detail paint individual parts, then seal it with gloss for the decals, another gloss, flat coat, then weathering. I doubt I will add individual track links as they cost more than the kit did. All of the sprocket, idlers and road wheels would have to be modified too. Thats a shame as they really would've made this garner a second look.

I think indy links on an egg build is a bridge too far! Sounds like a serious dent in the fun factor if you have to change all the running gear

Nice colors too. I'd add the gelb as it will look better than the plastic. I think it will bug you when you look at it too, if you leave it unpainted. Just my 2 cents

Looking very nice so far, well done guys.

Totally agree Stokesy, I've already painted it thus finishing the acrylic and began an enamel wash, then picking out the details.

As for track links, I also totally agree. The conversion goes totally against what an egg build should be. I'll figure out some other silly stuff to add instead.

Just squeezed this in before Easter....

Not my best work, but it wasn't meant to be either.... something different (like me). OOPS! looks like the left side track is a little off, easy fix.

You have plenty of time …sig runs March to May. So you could even do another one!

Thats a cracking paint job and the commander really sets it off.

And as Tomcat says, there's still time for another one!
