Hello!
I've just discovered this forum after visiting the Ultimate website, and decided to sign up.
I'm a member of several modelling fora, under the same username in all of them. I'm a 70-year-old Scotsman who's lived all his adult life in the North of England
and now reside in a small town near Manchester. I'm a retired Registered Nurse, living with my fiancee Jan. We've had 9 kids between us (5 of Jan's, 4 of mine!) and are now proud grandparents to 16, aged from 32 down to 10 months, and great-grandparents to 4.
My modelling interests include aircraft of WW2 in Europe and the Cold War, and smaller lesser-modelled Air Forces with a special interest in Finland's Ilmavoimat. For aircraft I work in 1/72 and 1/144 for "Heavies". I also build WW2 armour, mostly in 1/72, occasionally in 1/35. I also occasionally model civilian vehicles, and have gathered together the makings of a small N gauge railway layout, although no work has commenced on that.
Away from modelling, I play guitar (as the T-shirt says, I play guitar because I like it, not because I'm good at it!), read Sci-Fi (favourite author Larry Niven) and I enjoy watching Rugby and motorsport.
Currently on my modelling workbench are an Airfix 1/72 Brewster Buffalo, an Eduard 1/144 Junkers Ju52/3m, and a Roden 1/144 Convair B-36.
