1/32 P-47D-20

Post by SNautRight »

This is my first photo submission to ISM, one that I completed earlier this year. This was a research project done on the pilot who was a local dentist. His name was Lt. James Fall. He was assigned to the 9th AF, 71st FW, 366th FG, 391st Squadron in a/c 42-76542. He flew Princess Pat on June 10, 1944 and was shot down and taken prisoner near Noyers-Missy which is also SW of Caen, Fr. That was a rough day for U.S. aviation as he was one of 77 aircraft lost from all theaters and all causes that day. Dr. Fall passed away 79 years to the day that he was shot down, June 10, 2024, about a month after his 100th birthday.
Princess Pat, I found, was a moniker used on another U.S. plane; a B-17 IIRC. She was some sort of theater or film celebrity of the time. I don't know if this was his regular mount or just the assigned a/c of the day's mission.

Decals of the moniker, the AW and the tail number, 42-76542 are home made. The model is from Revell. Paints and primer were Badger airbrushes and paints. The model is loaned on display at a local airport.

Nice work. The P47 is a serious looking bird, especially the razorback. It just looks like a monster.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.
