Tamiya 1/48 Sea Harrier

Post by RangerNeil »

This is the finished model. I did start writing a build thread but to be brutally honest this kit was SO bad I gave up. I built this in tandem with the Airfix Cromwell and you could be forgiven for thinking the makers names had got mixed up on the box lids and instructions!!
This had so much flash, so many visible ejector pin marks it was laughable - or cryable more to the point - and parts fit was atrocious. I gave it my best shot but by the time I got to the big panel covering the engine I'd given up - and most know I don't give up easily. I can honestly say if this had been my intro to Tamiya kits then, like the Taurus Macchi, I'd never touch another one.... I wouldn't recommend this to anyone save perhaps a master modeller (which I'm certainly not) with the patience of a collective of Saints!!

Anyways - here's the finished build - try not to laugh too loudly  :

Nice result. :th: The mouldings are from 1971 and the boxing from 1982 which explains most misgivings.
