For my next model I am doing Heller Gordina racing set. This kit includes the Renault Estafette Van, Renault r8 and a car trailer.

The first thing I start to build is the Renault Estafette van.

The first thing was to sort out the parts for the van as heller haven’t changed the numbers when adding these all together and they weren’t separated well in the box.

Then i primed all the prices for the van


Then I started to build up the engine and paint it.



Then it was on to the chassis first thing was building up part of the front steering and painting it black. Then I had to stick in the engine to the chassis’s.

Nice!
Heller kits can be a challenge but that looks like some good detail in there

I steer away from Heller, cause I don't more challenges
I do like the subject matter though so I will be tuning in to watch the transformation.

Thanks. This is my second heller set and so far it is going together well so hopefully it will carry on that way.

Today I started a little bit more. The first thing I did was get all the parts that needed to be painted Matt black for the chassis and suspension together.





I then built and painted the exhaust and fitted this to chassis


Then it was building up the front suspension


Then it was back to the engine by fitting the water pump, cooling fan and radiator.




Then it was the rear suspension that needed fitting

After a few weeks of due to being busy and a holiday I have made a little progress today.

The first thing I had to do was make the cabin seats which were to be painted gloss black while I did this I also painted up the gear stick and other interior parts that needed to be gloss black while




Then it was on to the interior parts that needed to be painted semi matt black. Which included the seat bases and front panel


Then it was onto the wheels I built these up and painted the inside of them Matt black and the outside silver then fitted the tyres



Once everything was dry it was onto building it all up. The first job was to attach the seat bases to the seat and glue them into the cabin




Then it was the gear stick, pedals and front panel to stick in




Then it was time to stick the wheels to the chassis and then attach the chassis to the floor

Just had a look trough the instructions to see what’s next and found out that some of the body pieces are on clear parts which I didn’t notice when I primed so just spent some time masking up the windows and priming them up

Today it was onto painting the body.
The first thing i did was mask of all the places that are going to be blue. Then sprayed gloss white onto the correct parts.






Once all that was dry I removed the masking tape and glued all the pieces that were going to be blue to the body then masked up the white sections and sprayed it all light blue









Now I need to leave it a few days to fully cure then it will be onto spraying the clear gloss coat and polishing for a shiny finish

That's a nice smooth blue and I like the wheel rim dry brushing.

I have had another weekend on this and nearly at the end of the van

The first thing I did was make up the dashboard and steering wheel which was painted tan and attached the transfers to it.





While this was drying I used Molotow chrome pen to add in all of the chrome behind the lights and other parts such as the door handles.


Then it was onto attaching the front panel and dashboard to the model this was very fiddly but I got there in the end after attaching the dashboard to the model first then the front panel even though the instructions said to attach the dashboard to front panel first.





Then I had to attach the drivers side panels then the passenger side and then the roof. This was also very tricky to get lined up properly but got there in the end.

Wow!!! Looking excellent so far!!

Had another day on the van. Was hoping to finish it today but missed spraying the side door so will have to wait for this to dry and be clear coated before I can finish and apply the transfers.

The first thing I did today was fit the door handle to the drivers door and attach this to the van.



Then it was onto the passenger side with the same steps. For some reason the alignment on this side isn’t as good and not sure why but it still went together


Then it was onto the back doors. For this I had to attach the barn doors and then attach the handle to the tailgate and glue this as well





Then it was onto fitting the Renault badge to the front and the front bumper


Then it was onto fitting the door handle, mirrors and steps.



Then it was onto the grill and front headlight and wipers


Then it was the final parts on the rear such as the fuel cap rear lights and bumper parts

With the door now complete I was able to finish the first part of this kit. The transfers on this model weren’t the greatest quality with the white stripes seeming to break down and with them being white I couldn’t print of replacements as I don’t have a printer which can print white but they don’t look to bad.







Next it will be onto the car trailer

It is now onto the Car trailer which I started last weekend but when I went to paint I found my spray booth had broke so had to wait for a new one to arrive before I could carry on.

As usual the first job to do was to prime the parts.



The first few parts are all to be painted in steel so I start building up the trailer chassis.







Then I painted all these parts in steel as well as the wheels in silver and the shock absorbers and hubs in black.


Then I had to start building up the shock absorbers and add this to the chassis on both sides.






Then it was onto attaching the wheels to the chassis. The kit had two options for wheels and I decided these one looked the best.





Then I had to attach the jockey wheel and handbrake to the hitch of the trailer and paint a few details in black.

Had another day on the car trailer.

The first job was to spray all the remaining parts in either steel or black.






Then I had to paint the rear lights


I then had to attach the lights to the rear light bar and attach this to the chassis



Then I had to measure and cut the black wire then wire up the trailer electrics and brakes









Then I had to build up the winch. This was a nightmare the parts were tiny and there was no way I could wind up the wire so only did one time around. Also for some strange reason the hole which this was supposed to fit to on the chassis was on the opposite side so couldn’t use this.



Then it was onto the ramp and wheel arches as well as fitting the tie down hooks.






Then it was back onto the Renault van to fit the towbar. I had to make a small hole in the base and then just stick the towbar and tow ball




Then it was just attaching the transfers and the car trailer is complete

Onto the final part of this kit the Renault 8

The first job as always is to prime up the kit


I didn’t notice until I primed that the body of the car was bent and out of shape. I improved this as much as I can using hot water and trying to bend it into shape. The roof is still slightly out of shape but the rest is a lot better.




Then I fitted the rear lights panel and rear door and hinges which didn’t fit until I straightened the body out. I also fitted the wheels flairs. All ready to paint the car blue.




I also painted the wheel arches in blue while I painted the body


Then it was onto building the engine. As well as drilling holes for the wires for the ignition leads.


I then sprayed this green then painted the belts black and attached the wires



I then painted up a few parts that needed to be silver and black.

I then added the ignition wires and fan to the engine and add the engine to the chassis

Coming along nicely. Were the wires for the trailer's electrics part of the kit, or did you make them yourself?

Thanks they were part of the kit. I was quite surprised they were especially for a heller kit

Had another day on the Renault today.

The first thing I did today was polish up the body which has been sprayed blue and clear coated.





Then it was building the rest of the engine and engine bay.








Then it was onto building the rear wheels and suspension

I’m onto the final part today the first thing I had to do was fit the front wheel arches.


Then it was onto the interior. The first things I had to attach was the gear stick and hand brake as well as the pedals which for some reason heller decided to make out of rubber pieces.


Then it was time to fit in the seats which were also made from rubber and were quite a struggle to get on the post in the floor as there was nowhere on these pieces to fit


Then it was onto the dashboard and to attach the transfers I also painted black around the edge of the steering wheel.



While this was drying I attached the door cards, side windows and roll cage which was also rubber.



Then I attached the steering wheel to the dashboard and stuck the dashboard into the car




Then I had to attach the body of the car to the chassis



Then i had to add the chrome strips down the side the only problem is when i attached the wheel arch surround to paint earlier i covered the line so could no longer attach these parts so i used a chrome pen to paint these instead. I also attached the door handles


Then it was onto adding the finish parts such as light and bumpers to the front and rear of the car.


Then it was just the transfer to attach and the set is complete
