Going to do these two cars (a'hem, attempt it anyway!) next and give them to my youngest son.



I took my son to the Lone Star LeMans at CoTA (Circuit of the Americas in Austin) back in 2015, and he just fell in love with racing and cars in general. We both have a soft spot for 911 race cars and enjoy racing and driving... so this is going to be a gift for him. Hope to get them done by Christmas.

Anyway, a little start to the first one... and some shots of stuff.

Not looking so 'painty'... Ordered this stuff before we moved to Florida. Got it back in 2020, and apparently the thinner evaporated out of the plastic bottles...



Thanks for looking in, and if you have any experience reviving dried out paint from Zero, please, don't hesitate to advise.

Reviving paint?? Add the correct thinner, dial 911 and a priest, prayer??

Dont know about the paint, maybe they have a paint rejuvinator like mr color has. Or as scott said use the appropriate thinner. That should work fine.
Good luck with the decals

Been out of commission awhile, come back and the place has a new name and coat of paint.

Have made some progress on the Porsche GT3's, but mostly lost the desire and also life stuff happened...
Decided to get back into them as they are some pretty cool cars.

Was able to add some Tamiya Lacquer thinner and a bit of leveling thinner, also dropped a couple steel shake ball bearings in each... The orange color came back within an hour or so. The other two had to sit for a day or two but finally came back. Tested sprayed them and they worked.

Yay!! Didn't have to buy new paint!

I'm really excited to shoot the "Deep Ocean Blue" that go's on the back of each car, but am going to try and be patient and let them cure a day or two before masking them off...

Nice start to the build.
As Cor said if you can get it in the US Mr.Color "Replenishing agent" is the best product to use on the Tamiya,Mr Hobby lacquer type paints. It's the proper paint carrier and not a thinner, just top up the bottle to the original level and in a very short time your ready to go. It will even rejuvenate product that has gone fairly hard.

Have been doing a little work on the Porky's over the last week or so... not a huge amount of progress, but have been busy with other stuff. And these decals are gonna be a challenge...

Got the Deep Ocean Blue on the rear of both cars and just need to paint the mirrors.







Started decals... and this is going to be a process and an exercise in patience... They're at least quality decals, thick but not ridiculous to work with.

Looking great. What kind of setting solutions do you use on the decals?

Use Micro Set, and then the Ultimate Model Products Strong and Extra Strong. Sometimes I will just use the Micro Sol, especially if there are no curves or it's a smaller decal.

Just a little more time spent on the first one... still decals (prob about 4 hours or so in them already) and hoping to get more this weekend, but work and stuff just keeps getting in the way.





cor was right about the "Good luck with the decals"... They have been a challenge.
