Getting ready to start this bike. I used to ride around on one in my early twenties, back in the early nineties. Amazing bike. Great looking model from Hasegawa.

The rider model was given to me to test my skills, so I hope I can make a cool little diorama or display.

Having the rider on there is just going to be so cool. Will you be doing a small racing track base as well ?

He's run out of petrol and pushing it to the garage. My friend had one when I had a GPz900r in the 80's. It was a thirsty girl and this happpend to him.

Not sure yet. maybe just a clear stand, maybe some kind of concrete or asphalt. time will tell.

Mine was quite fuel efficient. From very long distance to city riding, never had an issue.

Im glad they load for you. Its a pretty good site so far. Prob run out of space later and have to cough up.

Assembled engine and frame

PE bolt heads glued on in various places

roughened up the weld marks. These were just flat. Surprising as the rest of the kit looks to be very well detailed. Probably better than the Tamiya bike kits Ive recently built













Im also thinking of this rider as an alternative. Both would look cool, the bike would be quite tilted with this guy on but it would look very dynamic.

Engine installed in the frame. Heat shrink tubing used instead of the kits thicker tube. Stretched the heat shrink stuff out to make it scale appropriate thickness.

Bit of touch up needed here and there, but its looking like an engine in a frame.

The frame silver was not very good, so I dabbed a bit of Tamiya sparkling silver over the visible bits to shine it up a bit.
You can see the difference comparing the engine holding frame to the rear seat frame, which wasnt touched up - its a bit duller.

Added the plug leads, battery and rear wheel arch, plus a couple of tiny decals. Most of the rear end will be hidden under the rear seat and cowl. Nice detail though.

That's coming together nicely.

Bit of work on the pipes. They're just test fitted for now.

Front forks done. Aluminium foil for the top of the poles.

Gave the discs a polish with 2000 then 3000 grit sanding cloth to flatten the paint around the holes.
The rest was just painting each little part properly.


Im impressed with the Hasegawa kit. The attention to detail, design, and crispness of the parts is outstanding. I will have to look at more Hasegawa kits in the future.

A cruise (in the motoring sense) is just a meeting of like minded car (and bike) enthusiasts who meet once or twice a month to show off their wheels. Typically these are US muscle or Japanese Tuner. The Chelsea cruise was simply held on and around Chelsea Bridge, London.

Think Fast & Furious, but more British and less illegal street racing.

Fun fact, it's celebrating it's 50th year this year.

Bit of work on the fairing. It needs a special dark blue, also on the front mudguard.
So I've mixed that and may as well do all the bits at once.

I've polished the plastic with 2000 grit sanding cloth. Will then prime with a grey to keep it even when the white goes down.

I'm still thinking about a custom paint job. Not sure what to do yet.

Heu COR, nice work and detailing so far. This is the first Hasegawa 1/12 kit I've seen in detail, let alone being assembled. I, like you, am both pleased and surprised with the fit and detail. Great idea with the shrink tube to replace the kits tubing. And I gotta say that the aftermarket nuts and bolts also add another level to the detailing, nice touch.

Do the tires tread pattern and markings look authentic? From the photos you have shown, they look the part.

If you have both figures, I personally would go with the standing rider.

Hi Ben

That PE motoGP bolt head set is great value and can be used for all sorts of models.
The tyres look great. Quite realistic. They were in a seperate plastic bag with 'made in china' clearly written on it.

Thanks for the advice on the rider, I will go with the standing one. He's just about ready to be assembled once the handlebars are on.

Here's a lot of pics of the cowlings painted white and attached - goodbye engine...

I always thought my bike looked better without the single seat cowl attached. It made it look a bit clunky, and there was always no shortage of passengers wanting to go for a spin, the chicks loved it, so the dual seat was how I had it configured.

Got this in my stash but it's the Japanese market version, the clocks are different. I had the 1100 back in the day what a bike, raced them for a few years great fun. These bikes were complete game changers at the time nothing could get close

Rider shaped to fit. Handles broke off, used a pin to reinforce them.
Used piano wire for throttle cables. Thinner than the heat shrink but hard to bend.

Duplicate

Spent a while masking for the dark blue, then painted. Came out pretty good. Decals going on soon.

Im going to make the rider's gloves smaller, not really suitable for a street rider i think.
Still not sure what colours he will be wearing. black, blue white. something like that. Mabe a patch on his back.
Helmet...could be anything at this stage.

Bike fairing clear coated and polished, attached permanently.

Rider needs a neck, as the helmet sits too low. Looking good though

It's now finished.


I kept the rider simple. I had lots of custom ideas, but this is how it worked out.
Overall it looks quite good. The Hasegawa bike kit is very good.

The silver base is a Hasegawa try tool sticker on some Perspex sitting on a couple of paint jar lids.

The photos don't really do this justice. It's a nice looking display.

Will put it in the hobby shop window.
