Wow, that is looking so, so good. The engine is gorgeous!
Thank You
The real engine is absolute art
You know how good the Tamiya detail is from your Tyrell...which is looking great btw!
Indeed! Thank you for the complement.

Maybe
The yellow is way too much urine.
I have seen them clear and also white.
Think I will leave them clear, they are overs scale already so not want a lot of attention.

Exhaust test fitting
I really want to paint them flat white, but that was more of a Ferrari thing
Any direction on pipe colour and heat staining?

I don't know, white would look pretty sweet I think. Heat stained titanium silver would look cool, but not historically accurate. I suppose for accuracy you'd have to go with black.

Pipes look blue end bits on discoloured dark steel / dark grey pipe
See pic below
Wow those are dark pipes vs the ref pic I have. I have a dark iron though
Will see where I wind up
The flat white will stay with Ferraris

That there engine is looking the business. The wiring work is making it look more and more impressive as you go.
Trivia time. I think it was kits like this, released in the 70s and 80s, that ILM plundered when they were building the space ships for Star Wars. It was they who coined the phrase 'Kit Bashing'. They cleared out toy stores for the Tamiya car and tank kits.
The most famous example is the Porsche transmission on the side walls of the Falcon's mandibles.

I did ultimate black and then a Mr Metal color stainless colour as my dark iron was completely dried up in the bottle
They look the same grey as the kit plastic was at the start

I had to mix up some more airbrush cleaner as was running really low
Hope all you make your own, so much more cost effective

It may not be what you originally had in mind color-wise but, for what it's worth, I think it looks great.

everyone
I did a little bit of chrome tips, purple and clear blue. Need to let it dry up or I smudge, show later
The engine wiring is starting. Gonna get complicated fast!
I had to add a support leg on the front of the magneto structure (black thing) and trim off a tab off the back end to let me wire it to the distributor ( round black thing with silver screws and red wires)
My fuel injector lines are not really correct as they come out vertically but it’s is too small to pin the aliminum tube side and have it come laterally. So I took the easy way out.

I love the colours of the headers and connection points, really metallic but slightly oily too.
Please forgive me if I am failing on the terminology front. You guys know I'm not a 'car guy'

Went to my local hobby shop today.
Have a $30 Christmas gift card.
They had nothing I wanted. All the Mr Color stuff is gone as Canada restricted import and sale
Not really in to mood to buy a kit just for sake of buying so I got nothing. May be my last visit there honestly.
Stokesy44 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 10:27 pm
Wow that engine look amazing
There’s a red styrene fluffy sitting on the fuel injector tubing from me scraping the engine bay
Cameras just never lie.
Ah yes. So you too have fallen to the dasterdly camera trick. Many a time I have exclaimed after photographing a kit, 'Geez it was looking good till I took the friggin pictures!'.
As for the red styrene fluffy, I'd bin the kit and start again. Its ruined
