BlackDog German WW1 Infantryman with Grabenpanzer 1:35

Hi guys!
This is my newest figure, i just finished it. It shows a German Infantryman in the First World War wearing body armour, France 1917.
The resin kit from BlackDog is superb, the assembly was very easy and the level of detail is nice. To paint the figure i used Revell acrylic paints.
I decided to paint on the "Mimikry" camo on helmet and body armour to add some interest to it, i think it pays off.
Scale is 1:35 scale, but i think its 1:32 scale if you compare it with 1:35 scale ones you will see that this figure here is pretty big.

Do you know if it was a common German camo as I'm not sure I've seen it?

Also I really like that style of body armour

It certainly was common, the German high command issued an order in 1917 that the soldiers should apply camo on their equipment. Recommended colours were brown, light brown, black and green i think. The soldiers were free do apply any kind of camo they wanted, but this pattern was recommended. It is called "Mimikry" pattern.
They simply painted it on by using crude brushes.


This museum piece acted as reference to my figure, you will spot some similarities on the figure.

Another great build as always, it must have been harsh to have used such body armor unlike the modern versions, also good to see variations of first and second world war soldiers

Lovely work again Michael. The figure's finish and posing evoke a strong sense of the period.
Do you know of the work of the figure maker Jon Smith Modellbau (website link at bottom)? I think Jon comes from Wales but he is based in Walstrode, Germany. There are a couple of 54mm figures on his list that would be good companion pieces to this. He also does wonderful looking 120mm figures from this period and I have sworn that one day I will buy and have a go at doing justice to his Bavarian NCO from 1917.
A couple of years back I painted his 1918 Poilu, your post has inspired me to add it to the gallery here.

I heard of this guy before but when i took a look at his stuff the last time there were only few figures. these miniatures are awesome, i will try and see what i can get in the future thank you for bringing that back into my mind!
