Uses of WD40 in modelling

Hello,
Does anyone use WD40 maintenance spray in modelling. I was thinking of using it as a cleaner before priming. i normally use airbrush cleaner but need to save the pennies and WD40 or equivalent is quite cheap and more readily available in comparison. Does anyone else use it this way.
Is there any other uses that anyone can recommend.

There are hundreds of uses for wd 40, funny but one is not lubricant

My bicycle guy told me to use it to wipe down my bike.

I would not use it on a model to prep for paint.

I use Windex to clean my models before paint

Stay away fom WD40! At all cost!

Paints won't stick and oily residue will keep contaminating your paintjob overtime!

It gets everywhere! And I speak from experience.
My son sprayed it in my display case as a toddler and ruined everything!

And he still lives! LOL

WD40. Ain't a modeling cleaner!
Use Windex or SimpleGreen or SuperClean!
or a solution of warm water and dish soap

Rinse well and Air dry!

Hi Rodders, as the guys have said stay away from WD40 as it is apparently fish oil as the active ingredient. There is a good chance that there may be silicon in the mix as well which is a big no no for paint I would recommend that if you get WD40 on your hands, use a good quality alcohol based hand cleaner. Hope this helps.

From what I understand (and I'd be happy to be corrected) but WD will perish rubber seals and O-rings.

If you want a cheap airbrush cleaner, use car screen wash.
