Retro kit "Merry banana" Christmas minion

Post by Paul »

I plan to enter a proper figure build for this GB but for now I bought this for my GF Hanna as she loves the "Despicable me" films and loves the minions and Christmas so I'm on to a winner from the off lol.

I plan to do him on a little dio, which I show at the end, for Now I'll log the figure build and painting process.

So the resin "kit" not many parts, but all very well cast with great surface detail, for £8 a nice little figure

Image

Parts sawed off and tidied up using sanding sponges and polishes.

Image

And the hand and arms glued together, I plan to paint this in the two sections shown and attached the arms as a last step of the build. Where the hands meet the arms a little filler was needed.

Image

Primered in ak white primer, spayed on perfectly with no problems, so not sure what the fuss is over it some people have said about it, like any white paint it needs very thin light coats or it'll pool easy, to me it sprayed just like the grey and dried really fast too.

Spent a couple of hours painting him up.

I mixed some mr hobby yellow and white to get the right shade of yellow this was over the body. I then used some citadel blood red for his overalls and hat. And then some black for his inner mouth and white for teeth and pink for his tongue :th:

I'll say one thing, it's certainly fiddly and different brush painting so much small detail :th:

I am actually stealing this idea! My gf also loves the Minions and I think she really would like a wee Minion of her own. Nice shade of yellow there Paul, looks good!

So on with this as hanna wants it as part of the xmas decs.

I set to making the small scene, using an old candle lid
Image

This was then smothered in plaster of paris and left to dry

I then set to making my snowman, using oven dry clay i rolled the body shapes and then made the hat, scarf and carrot nose from the same clay, once baked it goes rock hard
Image

Image

Then i gave it a snow look ;) And using plastic round strips made the eyes and buttons, these were hand painted long with the hat and scarf

Image

And did the same to the base :th:

Image

The edge of the base was airbrushed flat white, and the snowman glued in position.

Image

And a little more work done to the minion, just his eye, boots and present and gloves to paint and he is all done :cheers2:
