Air compressor overheating

I have a Chinese made compressor AS-186(http://www.factoryairbrush.com/index.ph ... cts_id=522) and after about a half an hour spraying it heats up like a mother******. Today I was practicing by painting an old Abrams and I could only paint half of the lower hull before it became too hot. Also I think that it turns on to fill up the tank too often. I get only about 10 seconds of spraying time to ~30 seconds of refilling. Not only it takes long to fill it up but ii struggles doing it.
So could you guys give me some help? I think a lot of you have similar compressors. At least I know that Coen and I think Hamolkarbarkas have.

I have the same compressor. I've had it for about 3 months and never encountered this problem. Mine gets quite hot but only after a whole day of spraying and I never have any problems because of it. You have probably already done this but search the internet over loads of airbrushing forums and FAQ's. If u still cant't find it then look through the instructions. Last resort probably recommend contacting the dispatcher. Good luck!

If it is filling its tank often and only giving 10 sec of air.maybe its a tank issue.

I have the same compressor but none of your problems...... When I spray I can spray easily for an hour or more (did it today) it only turns on every 5 to 10 minutes and then for maybe 20 or 30 seconds. ...

So I guess I could safely say something is broken on yours

My compressor plays up when it gets colder itsthe little rubber valve that acts as a none return valve but as it gets colder it becomes less flexible and doesn't seal so takes ages to get up to pressure and then loses it in seconds and fires up again

As a precaution, check the fuse in the plug. Someone posted a thread a little while ago that a lot of these compressors were shipped with 13 Amp fuses, but should be fitted with 3A.

Not encountered this problem myself, but it does sound like you're losing pressure somewhere or have a leak possibly.

I'm no compressor expert (just a lowly Marine Mechanic) but I would be looking at the check valve.

Thank you for your replies. I sent the compressor and got my money back. Now I'm looking for a new one. I have this option http://poligonas.net/index.php?page=sho ... t&Itemid=1. Do any of you have a compressor that uses a fridge compressor. Do they require a lot of maintenance?
