I too have done a T34.
I went with the assumption that my Soviet crew was drunk when they had to apply the white wash by hand and used paint brushes, rags and whatever else was handy to smear and spread the white was on. So I painted up the model in green and then put the white wash on (Tamiya white with a couple of drops of Buff to get it more "off-white" and slapped it on with a coarse dollar store brush.

I would almost think that if you do a T34 you have to do it in winter camo

I think there are so many because it makes a good one to start with for winter camo: The models are cheap, so it's not an expensive "gamble". Also with the Soviets using paint, flour or anything else white(ish) that could be turned into a liquid and applying it with whatever was at hand means that just about any result will give you something close to what a T-34, somewhere, at some point, would have looked like.
Plus there are probably more photos of T-34s in winter camo than any other tank.
So... which tank are you going to start winterizing with?

Oops.
Just noticed this was a Cold War thread.
I'll move it back on track:
I'm still waiting for the courage to try and weather it and I added the Soviet emblems on the side of the turret because they came in the kit and just look cool with all that white around them (and it made no sense in the photos of the real one why the area was left unpainted).
I'm guessing this was a latter version. It didn't hold the same appeal for me:
I'll be doing a T-54 soon and it will be winter camo as well, I think all my Russian tanks will be white. I may go with one of the WOT winter camos and I like this one:
