Help buying my first airbrush and Compressor :)

Hiya

I have been very very fortunate to find myself with the opportunity to get myself good Airbrush / compressor set, I've got my heart set on a Iwata set, and have been looking at set deals on Airbrushes .com


could anyone recommend what would be a good Iwata compressor, airbrush combo for a novice, looking for a user friendly but solid system to use, which would be suited to doing 1/35th AFV's

also any advice on cleaners and other products for maintaining it


my price range is about 450 euro

any help would be great

I would honestly avoid the Iwata compressors I think they are way overrated and overpriced,for £70-£80 you will get a as-186 compressor of ebay that works perfectly.

Iwata airbrushes are good (I have a revolution) solid airbrushes, they work very well, but using it alongside my hardersteenbeck, the harder is the much better airbrush, much easier to clean and strip to give it a proper clean. I also prefer the feel of the HS over the Iwata.

Save your money on the compressor and put it towards an extractor

Just my opinion of course

Cleaner, you will be hard pressed to beat our Ultimate cleaner, no other airbrush cleaner works as well IMO.

one question about as 186, found one ebay looks like a great unit, i have a question about it, for the hose sizes would have to get an adpator for HS Evolution CR plus 0.4 as this the brush im looking at, is this a good brush for a newbie ??

I would get the .2 needle over the .4 as it'll be more useful for you, I've not once used my .4 needle. Great airbrushes (theres a reason i have two of them lol)

Cant remember the hose size on the 186 and i have quick releases on all the brushes too, hopefully someone with both like coen can answer that

Wouldn't you know it, I have an H&S Evolution and an AS-186 and both are 1/8 fittings, so no adapter needed.

I bought my AB on Paul's recommendation and it's a great bit of kit. The compressor does everything that I need it to do, so I'd say its well worth the money.

Take a look at air-craft.net, they do all the accessories and spares for the H&S, plus their service is really good (based in Scotland but I believe they do global delivery).

Another thumbs-up for air-craft.net. I got my Sparmax compressor (http://www.air-craft.net/acatalog/Sparm ... essor.html) from them and got great service. I gave them a call on the phone to ask some dumb questions and they were very helpful.
A quick connect adapter for the hose is a useful addition and one with a mac valve (fine air pressure adjustment) is an option.
After looking at your happy additions on the postman thread it seems things are mighty grand all round in Galway

The H&S evolution with the .4 is what you like, they seem to have several models. I intend to get a new dual action as my next big buy.

So I will take your advise, and not try to reinvent the wheel. I am using a Badger single action 200 I think.

Which one exactly do you recomend, they have five Evo styles, solo.....etc

I have an Iwata HP-B Plus (excellent), but if you want an excellent d/a airbrush for very little money, look no further than a Sparmax DH-2. I got a new one for £15 on evilbay (it's an Iwata clone) and gives superb results. You can spend the rest of your coin on kits and paints

I just ordered me a Paasche DC600r, once i get it here at home I will do a review on it and let you know what i think. I got mine for $240.00 USD. I already have a Badger Krome AB and at Paasche Talon.
