Need the ratio

Can someone tell me ratio to paint for a pin wash. I am using Windsor and Newton artist oil, and need to know what to thin it with and what ratio to thin it at.

Watch a couple of vidoes on Youtube, basically a small dab of oil paint (maybe the size of a garden pea) and about a teaspoon of odorless turpentine or whatever you're using and it gets quite watery and thin very quickly.

Remember to gloss varnish before applying!

Hi IM,
generally the mixture is 10/90 paint to thinner (sometimes 8/10) for washes (no matter pin wash or general wash).
As krushgroove said - it is critical to apply them on gloss varnish coats to create better surface for flow of wash and capilary actions.

In case of thinning them - you have variety of choices:
1) mineral spirits (or white spirits - you have to be careful, because some of the mineral spirits leave the whiteish mist trails after they dry);
2) turpentines (so natural equivalents of mineral spirits - be warned it dries loooooooong);
3) you can also use the lighter gas, like this one - these dry very quick and seem to be versatile... but ... carefull with fire .

Same proportions more or less.
