modern camo

as u might know im building modern iraq scene..now here is the problem what colours do paint the figures in there camo in any help please..oh i use tamiya/mr hobby

Well depends what "side" your painting? British, American, German, Canadian? Iraqi?

If its American then if its 2003 - 2005/6 then the US troops would be in the Desert tri-tone, with some US Woodland mixed in. These two patterns.




If its after around 2006 then they were wearing ACU. Which is this.

Not sure on what actual paints to use as I don't use Tamiya or Mr. Hobby, but there are some patterns for you mate.

The ACU is deceptively easy....if you can get good representations of the colours all you need to do is paint the entire clothing in the lightest colour (which is a buff kind of colour), then take a bit of sponge from a blister pack, or electronic goods packaging and dab the other two shades over the model. At 1/35 scale that gives a good enough impression of the pattern to look good.

No bother mate. Just remember, especially with camo, that on small scales your only trying to give the impression of the camo, rather than trying to exactly replicate it.

I made a thread a few days ago that deals with this subject. I left out the more modern US camo ACU patterns, but for the beginning stages of Iraq were covered.
