Yes or No? Airfix 1:72 Spitfire Mk.IXC

Hi guys, i opened some of my xmas presents this morning as i'm spending xmas in Norway and i can't take them all with me. One of my presents was this:


My grandma left the receipt with it in case i wanted to change it for another model from hobbycraft. I watched Lee's and some other peoples reviews on it and the canopy looks rubbish, but i've heard the grey plastic is quite good. I was wondering if it's a good kit as i have had my eye on airfix's new tooling (i think) of the 1:72 A6mb zero. Is it worth changing the kit for the zero?. I havent looked inside as the box is sealed in case i do take it back. One last thing: Lee's review has the box art like this:


Notice how in the bottom left corner there is only one paint scheme but on the one i have there are two. Is this just a new box art or is the kit itself any different. Cheers guys.

Hi Will,

Just getting back into modelling after a twenty year gap and doing a lot of research at the moment as things have changed so much. From the description you have given with your model having the 2 paint options I'm pretty certain you have a model using the old tooling. If that is the case I would consider exchanging it for one of their new tool models as reviews seem pretty good on the new toolings.

I'm pretty sure that this is the new tool as Shelby has picked this one up. From what I've seen of it it is a nice little kit. The way to be sure is to check the cockpit area, if there is detail in the cockpit and recessed panel lines, then it is the new tooling. Hope this helps.
