ISM 2014 GB & SiG Calendar....

Post by Lee »

Please find attached a calendar for all the ISM sponsored GBs & SiGs for 2014.

Hopefully this will help our members plan their builds and, more importantly, buy more kits...lol

I have attached a PDF file of the calendar as well as a jpg. Any questions, please feel free to post on the thread or PM myself or Paul :D

Yeah well as there was a lot of interest in doing one on the forum, just not enough to sway the GB votes we thought it fitting to make it our long term GB :thumb2:

Think I'll build my Ferrari f40 and possibly a bike too :cheers2:

just for my knowledge and to make sure
does a Nashorn tank destroyer/hunter counts as a spg for the steel rain build
its the only thing in my stash that comes close i think
or a mobile anti aircraft gun on a 38 t chassis
thanks Mark

Nashorn is an SPG but also a TD (not an artillery SPG) so I think its a no, but you could do a modification to a hummel; pretty much the same thing but an artillery piece. You'd have to mod the superstructure a bit and get a new gun and interior for the fighting compartment.

AA might count, ask Lee/Paul (the o' mighty powerful ones)

In Vietnam they had some M26 Pershings but most were the Super Pershings and the M45s (Pershing with a 105mm howitzer)

They also had M46 Pattons, M48 Pattons, and some early M60 Pattons near the end. Not sure about the M47 Patton though, I think not.

Sturer Emil is a Tank Destroyer though, basically a beefed up Nashorn on a VK3001 chassis with a 128

I ain't an expert but SPG refers to both arty and TDs, but TDs don't "[rain steel]" like artillery does.

It says "Steel Rain - Artillery/SPG's/Cannons etc etc." So I think Lee means artillery guns, the mobile artillery SPGs part of "SPG's", and ye olde cannons, but he'd have to clear it up for us...

Steel rain counts more for self propelled artillery, hence the rain. Artillery shells come down. TD and AA guns, while they can be self propelled aren't artillery as such.

If it was a GB maybe, but a SIG is meant to be quite specific.

Lee and Paul have the ultimate decision though.

SPG just refers to any gun mounted on a mobile vehicle. M10 tank destroyer is an SPG, but not artillery. Sexton is an SPG which is artillery as it carries an artillery piece.

It ain't the quality of the result, it's the quality of the fun :thumb2: Still, if you end up with an awful kit of completely ruin it in the painting stage then I guess that'll bring the fun down a couple of notches...

It ain't the quality of the result, it's the quality of the fun :thumb2:

Steel rain will be artillery where shells fall like rain so, SPGs, artillery, cannons, I suppose V1 & V2 rockets and missiles would class as artillery too. TDs and AA would be a no no I'm afraid...

I think common sense will prevail and just assume that if it falls on target it should be fine. We'll finalise the rules in a couple of days on e we set up the forum for it :)
