Ok, I have built my two come-back models after +30 years.
They were built in parallel and have been subjected to me trying lots of techniques to learn and re-learn.
So...please dont judge them to hard...
Second out, the Airfix 1/48 Spitfire PR XIX as the Swedish Airforce S31
(The S stands for Spaning, in English = Reconnaissance)

After the war there was a great need to modernize the Swedish Airforce.
The first Jet was under development, the J29 "flying barrel", but the recon version was not due until 1955.
In 1948 a total of 50 Spitfire Mk PR XIX was available at a good price and consequently bought as a stop gap.
They were all stationed at the F11 wing in Nyköping. (Hence all are marked with the "11")
The Aircraft were painted in the RAF P.R.U. Blue color also in Swedish service.
The PR XIX was in Swedish service 1948-1954 and flew countless missions against the USSR and Warshaw pact coutries.
Most missions were high altitude (30-40000ft) strategic photo recon.

Wingspan: 11,23m/36ft10in
Lenght: 9,96m/32ft9in
Engine: RR Griffon 66, 2055hp
Top speed: 720km/h 447mph
Ceiling: 14000m/46000ft
Armament: 1 side looking and 2 vertical cameras

That is one beautiful Spitfire, Sir.. and Swedish colours are never wrong!! This kit is on my list, for a future purchase. A true gem, that model, well done!! And welcome back to the hobby...

I grew up in Helsingborg in the South of Sweden, just North was the F10 wing and just east the F5 wing (which was also the Royal Swedish Airforce trianing wing)
F10 had Vampires, J28B, and F5 the J28C Twin seater trainer.
They had a C version flying in the old F5 vintage club untill this summer.
It will now be on static display in the F10 museum.
Both wings were closed down some years ago when there was a major re-structuring of the Swedish armed forces including massive budget cuts. Our Airforce of today is just a shadow of its former glory. (Years ago we were one of the 4-5 biggest airforces in the World)
Until then You were used to have fighters in the air every day...now a day You react when the occasional pair of Gripens passes overhead. Very sad indeed.
I grew up with J34 Hawker Hunter, J35 Draken, SK60 (trainer), and my favourite airplane ever, the J37 Viggen buzzing overhead.

I just folded Tamiya tape and cut into with/lenght.
Then dipped it in buff.
Let dry and mounted with tiny dots of CA-gel.

Och jag ar svensk i forskingringen.. fran Orkelljunga ursprungligen, sa Helsingborg kanner jag val till, och lumpen gjorde jag pa F10, pa den tiden de fortfarande flog J35:or.. fast jag satt nere under jord och tittade pa en radarskarm, vilket ju ar spaning det ocksa.. och forklarar kanske mitt 'Utan spaning, Ingen aning'. Vi hade Ljungbyhed sa val som F10 over huset dagligen nar jag vaxte upp, men nar bagge forsvann sa blev det MYCKET tyst i luften. Gripen har jag nog aldrig sett 'live' men en dag sa far jag val gora det.. Viggen ar ett mycket vackert flygplan, sarskilt i kamuflage.. men min favorit ar nog anda Draken..

Well, as you have seen the picture now I need no longer tell you that it is painted green..
