Hello Dear Modelers

This my first but hope not last gallery on the ISM forum. After long two months of work I finally finished working on my Baufighter from Tamiya in 1/48 scale.
I really enjoy building this kit no major problems in term of fitting as usually in Tamiya kit. For painting I used also Tamiya paints XF-54 Dark Sea Grey and XF-21 Sky. For weathering I used Tamiya Dark Brown Wash and some pigments also from Tamiya. So here it is I hope you will like it as I am

You did a great job on the different tones of colour, was that post shaded? Nice subtle weathering streaks on the wings too. Nice model mate.

I've just bought the MkVI version, if mine comes out half as good as yours I'll be chuffed to bits!

what did you use for the exhaust and engine cowling fronts? Tamiya XF6 as they suggested? or something else

For exhaust and engine cowling fronts I used X-34 Metallic Brown from Tamiya. First I have plan to used XF6 as was suggested in the instruction, but when I start spraying my airbrush clog up very quickly and I have some kind of metallic dust on my entire model, so be careful if you have plan to use XF-6 make sure that you mask entire model. I think the X-34 is better for spraying for me anyway.

That's an awesome Beaufighter Wally! Your finishes always look so sily smooth....do you use fine sanding paper in between paint and varnish coats and then give the final clear coat a light buffing? Every model that I've seen of yours have the same spectacular clean finish!

Regarding smooth finish all I did was lightly sand the primer coat after it's dry. For this I used fine sanding sponge or polishing cloth from Gunze.
Usually I use 6000 or 8000 grit. And that's it. If after the spraying paint I see any rough texture especially on the wing root area I used once again the 8000 grit cloth to smooth them out. After that on next stage I mean gloss coat or final matt coat I do anything.
