Airfix 1:72 Hawker Sea Hurricane Mk.XII JS327
No.804 Naval Air Squadron, HMS Dasher,Operation ‘Torch’
November 1942 (A02096/A82014)
2014#1
From ‘The Sparks of Liberation’ Airfix Club kit 2014, tried a pin wash for the first time, possibly a bit heavy with it but it doesn’t look so pronounced in real life. I made a slight mistake with the alignment of the outer guns, it’s not really mentioned in the instructions and just noticed after coming across a picture of a downed example in a book on the Hurricane.
A nice little kit and an enjoyable build, all brush painted with Humbol enamels. Himbrol Klear used to prepare for the decals. Revell DecalSoft used for their application. Another coat of clear applied followed by a pin wash of very dilute Hu33. All sealed in with a brushed coat of Humbrol Mat Varnish.
It’s stablemate Swordfish is progressing, but it’s just a little more complex.
