Some aircraft advice please!

Firstly, any tips for using filler putty? I'm almost at the stage of priming my BF110 and there's one or two small gaps between parts (wings/fuselage, engine cowl/wings etc) I'd like to fill in but never used putty before. It's 'Tamiya Putty white' by the way.

Also how should I go about masking off the cockpit? The trouble is I wanted to go for canopy doors open both front and back so I was thinking about doing the whole thing seperately because of the way they fold out...but I've no idea tbh. Do you guys paint the inside of the canopy, might it look a little too shiny if not?

It's only my second model so I don't yet have a wealth of materials available!

With my little experience with tamiya white, you can put it on, wipe with a paper towel, let it dry and it seems you can use a hobby knife to shape it and then use a sanding sponge or sandpaper to smooth it.

I changed to using Deluxe Materials 'Perfect Plastic Putty' last year and its light year ahead of the old style Humbrol/Revell style fillers. Goes on easily, can be cleaned off with a wet cotton bud and sands down nicely. The only minor points against it are that it can shrink a little if you are filling big gaps and it isn't really good forming missing shapes. Hope that helps

Depending on how big the gaps are you can use .... CA glue applied with for example tooth pick. It's easy to apply, dries fast and sands like charm
