Hey guys, update time!

I've started assembly, not that much to this kit. I think the bulk of the work will be in the painting

First off, the bomb bay is quite shallow, so I thought I'd make a new one! Yes, I'm an idiot!



A bit of hacking and slashing later!



New rotary launcher...



And bomb bay...



My refs show that from the right angle, you can see the engine faces inside the intakes. The kit doesn't have any so I found some old wheels to put in. Not the best, but they're the only ones I had 4 of! They'll suffice to give the impression that something's there, lol!



A bit more surgery to accept the 'engines'. You can also see that I've added a little nose weight.



Then it was back in with the hacksaw to remove some of the control surfaces. Until I'd read up on the B-2, I didn't realise it had a little 'tail' like a real bird! The rotary launcher is just sat in the bay for test fit in this pic. I'll paint it separate.



So that's where I'm at right now. I think the next job will be LOTS of filling and sanding, my fave job ever! right up there with stencils! Lol!

I'm on a roll! Two updates in one day!

First round of filler done and sanded. Gonna bang on a layer of primer before starting round two.

I've found that the B-2 is smooth as a baby's bottom, so as this kit is a mix of raised and recessed panel lines, I've sanded down and filled all of them. Had my first go with the Ultimate sanding sticks, and I've gotta say, they're very good. The tapered ends are very handy for getting into tight spaces. Good design Lee and Paul, you've got yourselves another convert! Lol!

Hoping to get the build part done soon, I've a feeling the painting is going to be challenging! There are panels on this aircraft, but the surface is completely smooth. So no pin washes allowed, gonna have to try and get all the detail done by paintwork alone. Also need to get the variation in colour to give some interest. With my skills I'm not sure how this will turn out! Lol! Wish me luck

Ha! Cheers Gupps! It was doing my head in, so I set it aside for a bit. I've built an F-16 and the new airfix lightning since my last update! Hoping to replenish my tamiya smoke at the weekend, so I'm gonna make an effort to get this finished, sooner rather than later! Lol. Cheers guys

Hey guys, finally got my act together and got back to work on this!

For Gupps, a couple of pics of the bomb bay assembly.






As you can see, it was just a case of taking the old bay and replacing the walls with deeper ones. I made these from plasticard, then added a little detail with wire and card strip. The rotary launcher was made from card and rod with a few bombs added from the spares bin. Simples!

Then it was on with the painting. This thing has ten wheels! It felt like I was doing a panzer, lol! Bays were masked and painted white, then just a dark wash just to give some interest. These planes are kept pretty clean from what I can see.


Started painting using whatever different greys I had to hand, masking off panels here and there. The B-2's coating makes it look different colours from different angles, depending on light, so I just closed my eyes and hoped for the best!


Next up was a gloss coat and decals, kit decals are for the prototype plane, no other options, wich is a shame.


I tried using a pearlescent paint for the 'canopy' but it hasn't worked too well!


And that's that! Aside from a little tamiya smoke post shading to try and blend the panels in.
