Tamiya Panzer II Ausf. F 1:35 scale

Post by apraedel »

So here it is,
my first 1:35 scale tank model ever.
I Always wanted to have Tamiya's Panzer II when I was young but never got one ...

Since this one - due to it's markings - represents some "Stabs/Befehlspanzer" or "command tank",
I thought the "German armoured car crew" from MiniArt would perfecty match up with it.
I added some more details to the tank by using the PE kit from Eduard and that almost drove me mad,
but in the end it was a good learning experience.

I used Vallejo colors and MIG pigments on a base built with "FimoAir basic" and modelling sand.
Painting has been done without an airbrush (but I got one as a Christmas present ...).
The heavy chipping has been done with applying the sponge technique.

What comes into my mind is that the desert sand dust pigments appear much too bright and I failed with painting the figures eyes, but there allways needs to be room for improvement, right ?

Enjoy !

For you first tank build it is a stunner, and i wouldn't have known, i really like the diorama the weathering and in particular the exhaust looks awesome. the figures are amazing, this i would like to see a lot more of
very nicely done.

Nice work my friend on an inaccurate kit! I built the same kit and was told that the large stowage box on the left fender was put on the originally captured tank by the British after the capture! Tamiya included it since they used the captured tank now in a museum as their reference to mold the kit. My solution was to paint the 'added' stowage box a different color to give the impression that the German crew did the same thing by adding the box taken from another PzKw II that had been wrecked.

Regards, GEP

Your model looks really good. I like the weathering/chipping and the extra jerry can rack. Good job, mate!
