a couple of questions for resin aftermarket kits

Post by Corkmyster9436 »

I have an after market resin kit and ordered for the Monogram B-17G kit that I am doing for the 100yrs of Bombers GB. Do I need to sand down/off the molded in interior detail for the resin parts to fit properly? and what adhesive works better w/ resin, liquid cement or super glue??

Normally you'll have to sand it off. It's a case of testing and adjusting, til you get a good fit. Liquid poly won't work with resin. CA is the usual way, although pva can be used if it's just to hold small pieces in place. But pva isn't very strong so depends what stress the part will be under.

Coen's resent video on resin figures may provide you with some useful information.

This resin kit is just giving me head aches, while trying to carefully cut pieces to clean up and prep for assembly I've had slivers break off. I was able to find all the pieces except half of the ring I need for the chin turret, 1/2 score to the carpet monster. :wall:

Ah yes, it can be very brittle. You really need to handle resin with care, especially the small parts. The upside is that it usually snaps without deforming, so repair is easier! Good luck dude!
