Hi guys if you follow my youtube channel you will know that im running a GB on the desert war in WWII.

And this is what im building



So i started with the spit and as you can see its from 1979 so thats a year older than me lol



So with this kit being old it had raised panel line that are very delicate and would be lost with all the sanding issues that im sure will arise so first thing first out with the dynmo tape and the scriber to rescirbe the wings.

Both top sections



Bottom


And some detail was needed in places.

like in the under wing radiator


The cockpit walls



And i added some seat belts from Tamiya tape


So hopefully just need to build the cockpit up and get the fuselage halves together.

I think you have mastered the art of rescribing panel lines to a tee!!!
Really really impressed with your skills there!
Detail in the cockpit and seatbelt straps are very very nice too, did you have to add the ribbing and boxing to the cockpit walls or was that already there??
Well done Nige, I'd have joined you with the GB but I started and built my DAF plane already. If I was more active on YouTube then maybe I would build another kit to take part, but I'm camera shy and like to protect you guys from my ugly face as much as possible... Lol...

managed to get on the bench this weekend and get the cockpit painted and weathered so on with the photos





so now the fuselage has been glued together and the wings are on over all not a bad fit but will need filling and sanding which i will show on the next update.

Cheers guys I managed to get a bit more done on the spit. Got the 1st camo colour on the desert yellow.







So I'll let that dry and try and get the next coat on some time during the week.

Nice man, I recently got this kit as its my first as an introduction to the hobby, I was a bit bummed when I saw there was no recessed panel lines as I wanted to experiment with a wash. This looks great! top work

So after a 2 week enforced break (no time due to work) I managed to get some paint on her.



I've lighted both the brown and sand in places to give a faded look and then used the sand in a light mist coat all over to give it that sand blasted look.


Again I lighted certain panels just to break it up a bit.

But unfortunately the masking tape pull the paint of in places

Not to worry I will just make it look like chipping.

Well that's it for now hopefully will get this finished before the end of the GB.

The tropical camo is looking the nuts dude.

Right so it's time for the decals and they went on bueatiful the even sunk into the rescribed panel lines

So I'll leave her has is for a day or two then on with a few more coats of gloss and it will be on with the weathering.

Hi guys a bit more work on this over the weekend

Gave it a panel wash and some grime and oil/petrol streaks. Also gave the decals a bashed look.







So next up is a Matt coat then on with some sun fading.

So since last time she has had a matt coat applied the it was out with the oils to do some panel fading and to dull down the decals.






Hope the photos turn out ok has the sun was a bit bright lol (wouldn't be a Brit if we don't complain about the weather)

Hey Nige...if you don't mind a noobie asking...how did you dull down the decals and what did you use for a matt coat?

Hi mate. That Spit looks used and abused, sun-faded, oil-streaked and everything a desert spit should be. Good stuff.

I used a dot filter. Once the decals have been sealed in with a gloss coat and a wash as been applied etc I used Vallejo matt. Then with some oil paints white, yellow and some other colours I just dot it on the with a brush with white spirt on make sure it's just damp so wipe most it off then drag it through the oils and it will blend it in. I think coen has done a video on it yes it's on a tank but it works the same on aircraft so if you ask him he might be able to point you in the right direction.
