Don't take this the wrong way. I understand that this is a forum for all modellers, of any age/sex whatever. But in one post p1ss was allowed but in the next it was wee wee. I can't say 'all to c o c k' which is a totally innocent localism. And as a fellow plumber, we both know that c o c k, n I p p l e, ba ll, flan ge, etc are not dirty words.

We want to keep this forum rolling in a professional and Family friendly way, I agree 100% with you but you have to realize that some words in your country or part of the world might be swear words in others.
Look, we are all adults here but we are also trying to keep this forum a welcoming place to every modeler around the world. That is why we have this rules. They are, in my opinion, easy to follow. We are also not trying to scare anyone away. The last thing we want is to be known as an strict, unwelcoming place to be a part of. I hope you understand what I am trying to say here. Thanks for your understanding.

Don't sweat it dude, I won't, I'm not out to offend anyone. It purely an observation that some words passed one minute, and not the next. Considering I'm a recently retired squaddie and now a hairy gas fitter, I hate (real) swearing!

Hey chief - I changed them because I forgot to add the words to the swear filter that you'd posted in a previous post, which you were doing to specifically to test the swear filter. They are board wide, meaning it doesn't matter in what context you post the word, it's the word itself that can't be used. You know as well as I do what you were trying to do . Unlike most forums, I've actually changed them to something funny instead of it being very strict...

The swear filter is in place as there are many young modellers on the site too and I'm sure most of them have heard much worse, but it doesn't mean that we should promote the use of profanity as some people can take great offence to it whilst to others, like me & Paul, it's like water off a duck's back.

IMO Lee and Luis and have got it spot on.

I'm not adverse to a bit of colourful language and have been accused of being a bit too colourful on occasions, but there is a time and place. If you've got any doubt about this then check out the number of threads that include members kids. Don't want to sound like a cliche, but they are the future.

So anyone that wants to swear, just go for coffee..........think about it!

Trouble is my kids know more broddy clucking swear words than i do !!!!!!!! HAHAHA (Evil Laugh)

I'm 15, I can agree lots of people swear here up north! Heck, I know for a fact CL makes parts stick together stronger than CA!

Poll: Foul-mouthed Canadians swear more often than Brits, Americans

A new poll shows that more Canadians, long characterized as as gentle and mild-mannered, admit to swearing than their British and American peers. Fully 56% of Canadians admit they are potty mouths in conversations with friends, compared with just 51% of Brits and 46% of Americans.


Canadians were also the most likely to hear colleagues swear frequently (26%), followed by Brits (24%) and Americans (18%).

But Canadians are more likely to hold their tongues when talking to family — only 27% admitted to swearing in front of relatives. One in three Britons (33%) and Americans (32%) did the same.

And get this: 12% of Canadians think it’s appropriate for politicians to swear — Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson must be so pleased.

Twenty-nine percent of Canadian respondents felt the same way about actors. Forty-two percent of us expect it from auto mechanics. Laywers? 15%. Doctors, 11%. And what about your local police officer? About 14% of us say it’s fine for them to let an f-bomb drop once in a while.

The survey included 1,012 Canadians and was conducted between July 20 and 23, 2010. More than 1,000 American adults and nearly 2,000 Britons also took part in the survey. The results are considered accurate within 3.1 percentage points in Canada.

There was a quote from a British general in WW1 about his beloved Canadian troops. He commented that with without the word "frontal" Canadians wouldn't be able to attack and without the "f-word" wouldn't be able to complete a sentence.
