Looking for a Model Shop in Pensyvania

Post by Piatchie »

Anyone one out there from Pennsyvania? I'm heading down to Carlisle in April for a week and would love to check out some shops. Living in Newfoundland is hard for this hobby. We only have 1 tiny hobby shop and she carries very little. She can order some things, but there is a lot that I don't have access to here. Hoping to find a place to pick up some weathering, sanding tools, paint, dio things, figures and accessories, ect. We are flying into Harrisburg, and going to the Carlisle Spring Collectors Car Show. We will then be driving back to Newfoundland.

Wondering if anyone can recommend some shop we may be able to check out while there!

Not much selection in Central PA my friend but if you don't mind a road trip to Indiana, PA there is a place called Whirlwind Hobbies that is what you are looking for. I work from home in Hanover but my office is in Indiana. This place has an incredible selection of kits. It's about a 3.5 hour ride but you probably won't be disappointed. They are located at 2430 Philadelphia St Indiana, PA 15701 same shopping center as Big Lots

I forgot to mention that there is a Hobby Shop in Camp Hill called Kranzel's.
Not a large selection of kits but a good selection of paints etc. and closest to Harrisburg.

There is a Hobby Lobby in Chambersburg which is right down 81 South from Carlisle, there is also one here in Hanover which is 15 miles east of Gettysburg. Just know that Hobby Lobby closes at 8 and are not open on Sundays.

There is a train shop in Gettysburg called Tommy Gilbert's. Mostly train but a good selection of paints and scenery items and some kits.

Lastly there is a Hobbytown USA in Frederick MD which is only about 45 minutes down 15 south from Harrisburg. Probably best place to get tools.

Best recommendation would be to go to Hobbytown USA and then the on the way back up 15 hit the Hobby Lobby in Hanover that would be your most bang in one trip.

All have web sites but I can't remember if we are allowed to link to them or not.

As for the Whirlwind place in Indiana as far as I know they don't have a web site but they do have an ebay store.
