help needed! how I paint head lights?

Post by Frankbe »

I'm build a Tamiya Hanomag Sd.Kfz. 251/1 kit. There is no clearly visible parts for the head lights.
How can I paint the head lights, so they seem more realistic?

Many thanks for your help!
Greetings
Frank

A bit of chrome foil or silver paint as a base and then build up the "glass" with your choice of clear. This can be Future, PVA glue that dries clear, clear enamel, or if you are brave enough epoxy or CA. I would recommend the PVA or clear enamel.

On the halftrack its likely the headlight isn't a big glass fronted light as you would expect. Chances are the lights are small roundish things with a rectangular slot on the front. This reduces the light coming out the lamp for wartime night driving. You don't want to be givin away your position.

In that case I would just paint the slot black and gloss it.

Yes, thank you. I thinknext time i try that.
I would it build out of the box. Scratch building is too difficult for me at this moment.
Tamiya would it build in this way, for me this is ok. In a few mounth I try to make it better.

Thank you i hope you can help me next time too.
