Hey everyone,
Since my roommate was kind enough to buy this kit for me, and based on the incredible job and very informative build-log that ridgers22 is doing (and seeing as there's no way it'll come even close to as nice as his), I decided that I'll tackle this massive beast. It's HUGE! I also think that I'll order the P.E for it - it'll be my first P.E parts, and they look so amazing, I don't think I can resist - plus, I didn't pay for the kit itself, so monetarily wise, it kinda makes sense.

Enough blabber, here is the box shot, as well as the massive sprues!
I haven't decided which version I'll be doing yet.

I really like that they give you diorama ideas in the box. Looks pretty awesome! ... don't think I'll do it on this beast of an aircraft, but possibly on a smaller one... and the kit comes with the figures... so win/win!

I lined the sprues up next to my 1/48 Cobra to show you the size comparison.

Nice detailing...and flash!

After seeing the P.E cockpit... gotta wait until it comes in!

Decals almost the size of the whirly!

That's all for now - haven't started yet. Will be waiting for the P.E to come in for this beauty :)

Well in :D

Dont be scared of the photo etch as its my 1st time doing it to. But have to agree it makes a huge diffrence.

Another bit of advice would be dont follow the instructions step by step or you will get really lost doing the photo etch

Good luck and cant wait to see this one started :D

Thanks
Wayne

Time for a LONG overdue update....

So the P.E came in and I got right to work!

First step was to grind off the really awful detailed display

Got the bombardier's section all done up

For the 'table' in the mid-section, like Ridgers, I too didn't like it - however didn't want to splurge for the P.E, so I took out my trusty dremmel and had a go...

A little styrene piece was added to the hole..

just a 'little bit' of Tamiya putty

That's it for now. Sorry for the short update, just wanted to make sure I got one in there.

If I can get mine to come out half as nice as yours, I'll be very happy!:

I'm thinking of this scheme at the moment...
