Post by rsrdevon »

Im looking to possibly one day pick up these two kits for my stash. Only thing is i do not know what hits are quality kits? Can anyone who knows or who has experience give me your thoughts or opinions on whcih kit would be best to pick up to build these two planes? These are my two favorite planes from when i was a kid. Dont know when i will buy them just getting an idea of which to buy for when i do.

Thank you

In 1/32 it's the tamiys offerings, mustangs in 1/48 the tamiya and hasagawa are supposed to be the best with the hasa being the slighty better kit.

Not sure about the corsair in 1/48

I will second that and add that the tamiya corsairs are quite nice! Liked them so much I built three! :th:

Im building an old Airfix Corsair in 1/72 scale - avoid this one, its an old vintage kit reissued (no cockpit details, canopy doesnt fit, wings are out of shape, tailhook not correct etc)

I just picked up an Academy 1/48 F4U Corsair (for $10!) which looks the business! Great detail, havent tried the fit just yet, but I've been pleasantly surprised with Academy quality (mind you, Ive only been building cheaper vintage kits first to get back into modelling, and now starting to acquire some better quality kits)
