Academy 1/48 P-40 Tomahawk 2b, Aces of the African Front

Post by Northboy321 »

So here's anther quick build of the Academy Tomahawk 2b Aces of the African front for my work colleague who got the corsair I finished recently. I have finished it as Tomahawk IIb, AK402, GA-F, 112 Sqn, as flown by P/O Neville Duke, 1941. I didn't want to go over the top on chipping and weathering so have tried to get a used but not abused look. All the streaking is done with my airbrush and very heavily thinned NATO black. I also used a mix of dark dirt and sand Flory washes to bring out the panel lines.

So on to the usual info;
Kit manufacture: Academy
Scale: 1/48
Type: P-40 Tomahawk 2b
Extras used: Eduard Zoom set
Paints and colours used: Xtracrylix paint throughout with citadel methril silver for under carriage.

So on to the photos

So there it is, great fun to build and paint and went together really nice. As always any comments and critique welcome.

Till next time happy modelling.

Great build - love the "used/not abused" look!

I just picked up a couple Academy 1/48 kits, look forward to starting them soon...

Wow what a great job you did, that is one nice looking P-40, I really love the weathering you achieved. I am currently building a Hasegawa 1/48 P-40E Warhawk and I hope mine turns out half as good as yours :thumb1:

:cheers2:
