Is that from the 'infamous' Cromwell models? Is he still in business? Seen some great kits, but read some terrible things!!

Good luck with the "extras" on this mate... :th:

The funny thing about your thread is earlier as I was flicking through as you do....
I spotted your thread header and read it as you was having a farting challenge against a guy called Cromwell Armor.....

Of course my money was on you..... But I couldn't think of any new guys on ISM called Cromwell??? :?

Oh well, teach me to flick randomly around the forum, on my Tablet without the reading glasses on eh??
Looking forward to this Buddy build mate... Look after our Nigel, teach him well....
Kinda like a scene from Star Wars Episode 1...
Qui Gon, Obi Wan and "Padawan" Nigel Skywalker..... Lol.....
Happy Modelling dude...... Easy build for you this!! :D
:cheers2:

Cheers guys, i decided to exclude the resin road wheels and tracks and use the bronco tracks and kit wheels as the resin wheels didn't look any better then the kit to be honest and needed a lot of work.

So started this afternoon with the running gear

And lastly a test fit of the new upper hull, good fit, just needs some tidying up tomorrow. :thumb2:

Shame you got those wheels and have decided not to use them mate. Btw, double check your idler wheels aren't upside down, easy thing to do on Challys.

I was wondering about those damn wheels. The instructions show squat for orientation and I couldn't find any good photos of the buggers.
Thanks Gav!!!

Yeah its just in his first photo one or two of the return rollers looked pretty close to the bottom of the sponson. Have seen that mistake made on mbts before, and you don't notice til you go to install the tracks. Just make sure that the return roller arm comes out horizontal from the hull and your fine.

Yeh they are straight just the crappy way the wheels go on :thumb2:

So my progress on this, full of man flu I've sneezed and snotted my way to the point shown below. Ive decided to exclude the resin conversion as it was proving a nightmare figuring out what went where and what was resin replacement parts and what was kit parts.
So I'm building it out the box using the bronco tracks :thumb2:

So all the front parts are glue in position, lights extinguishers etc along with the pe front flaps.
Image

All the rear parts are in place too, like coen this was about 3 hours work, lots of fiddly parts :eeek:
Image

All the rear upper hull parts in place, myself and coen both had different fit issues, mine being the rear plate stood proud about 2mm so i had to sand the bottom of each side and the base to get it to fit, a bit fiddly but its sorted now.
Image

And lastly the turret test fitted
Image

Next up will be the side armour and tracks :ooops:

Paul you're going to pull way ahead this weekend bud.
I'm starting a BT-7 today and I'm working on my brass tiger I Saturday and Sunday.
I'll bet you'll be 50-70% done by Monday.
Nigel will be about where we are now and I'll be hauling up the rear. haha.
We gotta get some of these younger whipper snappers to start theirs so I don't feel so old and slow.

That and shopping for tiny clothes for the "new" addition to ISM!! :thumb1:

Get better soon mate, let Nige catch up a bit...
She looks good with that PE, shame about the resin, can it be returned??
Good luck dude.. :th:

Cheer mate, I retuned the accurate armour stuff as that was new,,I've got a £30 credit with them so will choose some stuff for the chally.

As for the barracuda set, that's long outa production and I'm told fairly rare to find so I will most probably sell it on :thumb2: .

So too ill with manflu to make any videos I've cracked on with this today. Really enjoying the build it nice to just stick stuff together :cheers2:

Got the side armour and front armour built the tow cables, the gun barrel parts (which are a pig) and the mantlet too.

Image

I then primed the lower hul and wheels in Vallejo black primer. Once this was dry the road wheels where painted in mr hobby tyre black and the using a circle mask (the number 18 recess side down fits perfectly) I sprayed my home mix of NATO green (bsc285) nobody does this colour so I used varoius shade of mr hobby and got this colour after a bit of trial and error.

Image

Image

The kit rubber band tracks are rather fragile I've snapped mine several times now so they are stapled in several place lol again friul doesn't make tracks for the chally2 and they are totally different to the chally 1

Image

Thankfully the staples are covered by the side armour and when I spray the rest of the the tank I'll mask the wheels off

The one thing I am not looking forward to on my build is stippling the anti slip texture onto the hull, that is the only downfall of the Tamiya kit. Good work though Paul, the green shade looks quite nice.

That looks freaking cool!! Ok... Now I want to work on mine grrrr... I'm already working on the shadow build.
Good to know that there's trouble looming in the horizon with the gun bits.
I expected it though.

Yeah the guns a pig and the bar armour is a tad troublesome too, easy to sort though with brute force lol

Feeling better tonight I've beasted this thing to the point it now ready for primer :eeek:

I also noticed in the pics i had the gun foresight on back to front, sorted now :th:

Ha ha when i haven't got to film or am not in one of my "lets put everything i possibly can on this model" moods I'm a very fast builder.

This probably wont get touched agin till mid week as I've got video builds to do monday onwards (so knowing me it'll probably be painted tomorrow lol) should give the others time to catch up :eeek: :nena:

Nothing yet buddy still deciding on what Setting I'm doing with the chally whether it's in combat or not, really want to do the green/black camo but that would put it as not in combat
