Can we have a section devoted to Diorama's

Post by cliffp »

Why is the question... Why dont forums like the one above have sections devoted to designing and building Diorama's
for me a kit is just that a kit, when with a dio it has context and a story and as much work if not more going into a good dio..

it is an integral part of modelling that gets no mention, the work and skill that goes into a dio... even more so that in most cases it is entirely scratch built

As per my reply on Facebook,if you make a dio it usually has a main modelling piece, be it a tank, plane figure etc, so in our opinion its better off posted in the relevant section rather than a dio section.

A dio of a tiger in ambush is much more relevant in the armour section were it'll be seen rather than lost in a dio section

I think I dio section would be a good idea to.. if you wanted to look at some dios for ideas or just to look at(cause there are a lot off really good dio's out there) or what not it would be easier to find..

I'd have to agree with Paul on this. We had a bit of a debate a while back to decide if there was a real NEED for one.

Whilst I agree that it would be a great section, I think it would just cause too much confusion. If you have an aircraft/AFV etc set in a dio (which the majority of dios have) where would you post it? In the aircraft/AFV gallery of the dio section? We don't want lots of duplicate threads so, posting in both is not an option. See the dilemma?

There are very few dio only builds that do not contain a piece of machinery as the focal point. What would be more helpful is if people posted the fact that there was a dio in the title of their thread along with the kit etc :th:

EDIT: Thinking about it, we could have a dio building hints and tips section. How does that sound?
Where does all the bloody time go.....?

i have to agree with Paul
but if we want to make it easy to spot the diorama builds
we can end the subject title with dio/diorama just to make clear it is a build threat with a diorama
now the most of us just give the kitname as a title so you can't tell if there is a dio involved
but this is just a thought altough i think it can help
cheers Mark

Lee, you're a genius - I was just thinking about suggesting a how to/hints & tips section. Plus, putting Diorama into the thread title will make it easy to distinguish for those that are interested in all things diorama related.

Has anybody told you that you should think about setting up and running a forum - I recon it would be pretty good!!! :thumb2: :D

I personally would like a hints and tips section for dio's, as I have never tackled one yet and are going to look for some ideas on construction methods.
