Revell IDS Tornado Tigermeet 2011 1/72 Review in pictures

Post by Lego »

I was asked to put some pics up of this kit so here goes. As I said the other day seeing the mag and kit within 100mtrs of each other so I had to buy it. €12 bargain.

So the instructions, I left out the front page that Paul likes about how to insert stuff in your nose etc..Nothing of note really.

Sprues - Annoyingly they are not labeled A to Z.

The decals seem good enough but you really only find that out in application.

Not going to go into detail for a small kit like this, it looks really nice on everything. You can see from the photos that there are lots of recessed panel lines and barely any flash.

If you want a build review you should read the article in the mag pictured in the first photo and I quote " this builds into a museum quality model and proves itself a project with appeal to any and all levels of modelling ability". Pierre Baudru in his build does add some extras but nothing crazy that some magazines do where the model being reviewed is as far from the original kit that you cannot call it a review.

Decals 'designed by syhart'. I've used there stuff before, very good. Don't suppose these will be actual syhart decals though? Love the tonka, looking forward to the end product, good luck mate :th: :th:

Says designed by them and printed in Italy. Syhart are french so I doubt they are the real thing :(

Look at this decal set from them

They do some great stuff, I got the Dutch national display decals from them. Delicate, but beautiful!

Having recently built this bird I decided I might as well update the thread and add a few pics.

Firstly I have to hand it to Revell here. The kit went together without a hitch. Minimal work needed to get it to go together :th:

The decals are very good with my only criticism being they had to be cut into smaller sections as they where just too big to move around easily. It got very complicated around the canopy with 20 decals surrounding and covering the canopy so if you are intending to build one of these pay attention to what you are doing.

So I think for €12 or whatever I paid for it I cannot remember now, it is a fabulous kit :thumb2:

Really highly recommended.
