Hiya All

here's something very new for me this a project I wanted to do for a while and couldn't wait any longer to get stuck in ! Its for the Navy birds to get some armor loving :P Though I'm a novice to Aircraft I decided to throw caution to the wind and get some goodies to make this build an even greater challenge....have bitten off to much for me chew ? time will tell hahahah

The Kits

Image

and the After Market goodness: Masks and prepainted cockpit etch from Eduard and some resin engines from Aires

Image

a quickish review of the kits:

now lets get stuck in ! :p

I began work with the ejection seat , the kits parts were prepared for the etch detail parts, the molded belts were shaved off

Image

the seat got a few coats of Vallejo surface primer black

Image

to add some wear and tear to the seat frame was dry brushed with German Grey and the material of the seat was picked out with German Uniform and was given an oil wash

Image

then the etch was added, really added a lot of detail to everything :)

thanks for looking gents :)

thanks mate, it was a lot of fun to weather, really looking forward to finally getting to weather the entire aircraft as Navy birds always seem to be battered and worn and this will be on exception ;)

thanks Martin, etch really adds a lot to modern aircraft with all the computer screens and readouts but they were a bit a tricky to mount and get right

thanks gents

Looking good so far mate. I am itching to build my Hornet, but a lack of space for her has curtailed that build for the current time.

The PE really tarts up that tub and seat, good work!

thanks mate, really happy how it all came out as I didn't have much experience in aircraft before :)

here's some video updates of the F18 and where the build is now, unfortunate I have no WIP photos of said steps but I hope the vids will do a good explaining :)

Looking awesome so far Shane. How did you paint the seats? I'm learning and you either have a hugely steady hand, or masked the seats to paint the cushioned parts. Would love to see the process.

Hello,

nice progress so far. If i understood well, you ve had issues with your canopies to make the seamline disappear. The only way is sanding, polishing and give it a klear coat to give the shining back.

good luck

Goose
