Revell 1:48 EuroFighter "Tyhpoon"

Hi guys I pick this kit up a while ago and I've been itching to start it but what with work and other things on the go I've only just opened the box and it's a big box.
And 1st impressions is that it look really nice a few bits of flash but nothing to write home about and it's going to be a decent size plus I might add some detail here and there but we will see.
So on with the build. I decide to just build some sub assemblies to start with as I won't be getting the airbrush out until the weekend.
And has ever with an aircraft you start with the cockpit.
So here is the seat not bad detail I'm sure it will look even better when all painted up.
The actual tub itself the joy stick is not quite right but there is not much I can do about it so it will have to do lol
The main landing gear bays I might add some cabling here just to add a bit more detail.
And the front gear bay/engine intakes.
Well that's the lot for now will try to do another update soon thanks for looking.

Looking great so far Nige. I have the twin seater in the stash and I think they're the same kit with one or two different sprues so i'm interested in seeing how this goes. Good luck with the rest of the build.

Thank you mate
So on with the build and I decided the wheels bays need a bit more detail so I added some plumbing to the main bays which took me about 2hrs and will add some to the nose wheel bay tomorrow hopefully any enough chatter and on with the photos.
I use 28 gauge craft wire and some thin solder wire for the thicker wire.
Any hope you like it.

Above and beyond Nigel, the kit seat looks very nice and I'm sure Paul would be proud of that plumbing

Thanks guys really enjoying this so far so got a bit more done today.
So to follow on from the main wheel bays I did the same to the front bay.
Then i started on the ordinance which there are a few bits.
A bit of a fit issue with the storm shadows but should be an easy fix.
So that it for now thanks for looking.

Right update time.
One of the most obvious things on the eurofighter is the APU exhausts.
So I set about sorting it out.

As you can see it's rather rubbish as it is.
So first I needed to make a hole.
Then I need to make an exhaust which I used a bit of styrene tubing.
Which I squashed a bit to make it oval then sanded it to make it thinner.
Then I glued it in place.

Not perfect but better than it was.
Next it was time to add some weight to the nose it calls for 30g so I added a bit extra.
So I added it to the nose cone then used PVA glue to secure it.

I also added it in front of the cockpit.
Then it was time to add the wheel bays.
Then it was time to join the fuselage halves together.

This was going to be a big bird.
So that's where I'm at thanks for looking.

It's good to see you highlight the problem areas, as I have this kit (though its the twin seater) in the stash. So I can make sure to be careful when I come across those areas.
Looking good though mate. This going to be a RAF bird aye?

Thanks Gav if there are any more problems I'll try and highlight them. And yes will be RAF.

Your doing a great job Nige despite the fit issues.
I have the Revell Typhoon in 1/48 and 1/32 (the 1/48 kit is looking for a home if anyone wants one BTW) and even the 1/32 kit needs the APU hole drilled and a tube inserted ... I believe the 1/32 kit shares some of the 1/48 fit issues too especially around the intake area.
Looking forward to seeing this finished though, nothing looks quite as good and as purposeful as a Typhoon Jet IMHO.

Thanks Colin dispite the fit issues I'm really enjoying this at the mo it's something a bit different to what I normally build (WWII aircraft) and I love the looks of her so all good.

No not finished I've pre-shaded and done the main colour. It's not the best kit if I'm honest a bit over engineered so it makes it harder to get a good finish.

The fit looks dreadful! I hate when they break up parts into unnecessary pieces. Do they do that just to inflate the part counts to make the model seem better on paper?

It's a shame about the fit because for £25 the detail is quite nice if revell could have got it right it would have been a winner.
Any way I had a week off last week and I thought it was time to get some paint on her.
I know the grey is not quite right but I think it maybe because of the primer which was grey that is making it look a good bit darker. Any how that's where I'm at
As always thanks for looking.

Both are looking really good Nige. I have just completed an F-15E myself and have learnt some good lessons to take into my next modern jet build.
Got a few choices as well, Eduard Lt Ed F-16, Revell Typhoon and Revell Hornet.
Good work.
