1/48 Tamiya Focke Wulf FW190 A8 R2

Hi , my latest build , Tamiya's FW 190 A8 R2 (I Like a lot the radial FW ...), This was a 'Bomber Interceptor' from Luftwaffe in WW2 , different from the normal A8 was the 2 wing mounted 20 mm cannon replaced with the more powerfull 30mm Mk 108 cannon, this fighter featured extra armor plating on fuselage sides and 30mm armored canopy glass to protect the pilots against the defensive guns from the B-17's and B-24's .These planes with all the extra weight were hard to manouver , so they should have themselves some fighter cover from special groups of BF109s that should provide cover against P-51's escorts , so this FW 190 A8 R2 should attack the bombers with their devastating 30mm cannon at close range .

In the model I follow the box instructions , these Plane was flown by Unteroffizier Willi Maximowitz in June 1944 .This version was a A8 R2 , but only have the extra armor plate on fuselages ( I replace the Tamiya stickers that were in the kit , they melted with the primer ...don't know why ...so buy some Eduard PE in ebay and it was a good option ) the colors I'm with very doubts in the green RAL 82 Camo color (Vallejo Model Air )that I choose for the upper part , as for the others RLM 74 Grey Violet(Tamiya AS 4) and the RLM 65 Blue sky for the fuselage (this was Tamiya AS 5) . The paint process was hard to me as this is now my 4 th model , and perhaps i'm putting my skills too high .I saw other versions of these fighter in Grey tones only , no green , but this combination could happen in WW2 in later years .
The only issues on the kit were really a hard to paint schemme with three different colors and some motling (it went more or less ok and a very nice test to me ! ) , now the Big problem with this kit were the decals , in my opinion some crap decals and I do not have that much experience but this ones had a lot of glue and they were almost like stickers , glossy ..the white ribbon in the fuselage i throw it away and must paint it with XF-2 Tamiya acrilic , the Balkenkreuz in the wright side isn't very well because the decals stick and i can't move them without damaging them , even with some decal softner ...but it is done now , and i'm happy with my work .And sorry guys for the pictures, i should invest in something better , and in better light

Will still do some diorama to place it properly . but for now here it is ...

Nice job, mate! I really love the Luftwaffe camouflage schemes, they look really good when executed well, like yours.

The FW190 is a plane that I want to do eventually....I've only made 6 aircraft to date and presently working on my 7th, a Tamiya 1/48 D Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI.

These Tamiya kits are beautiful to work on.....the fits are great and they have more details than manufacturers like Airfix and Revell. They might cost more, but that extra cost is well worth it.

, yes I will do it again also , I would like to make other scheme that comes in Tamiya Kit , one with red markings .
