Hello from St. Louis. MO. USA

Post by Bagpiper »

Hey there. Well I'm a Scotsman living in the USA for my sins. Love making models but still new to plastic. Made a few tutorials on paper modeling on YouTube which i took up a couple of years ago. I have all the gear for plastic modeling but need to transfer my skills to plastic. Main interests are sci-fi, horror (spooky - not violent) but have dabbled in planes throughout the years but never got very far.

Good luck with this new forum.

Cheers
Jim

Thanks guys. Yet again I love your attitude. To me modeling is modeling. I love paper modeling and feel many of the skills I have learned such as patience, cutting, gluing, having to redo something a hundred times  , and order of build is skills I can use for plastic. Thanks so much for suggesting I can post some of my builds in the other section. Good to see no snobbery here. I really mean that guys (gosh if I say guys one more time. lol) At least in my time in the USA I have not got around to calling everyone "dude" lol.

Excellent attitude all around. :-)

Cheers
Jim

Jim,
Now this is pure serendipity. This little black duck stumbled across a YouTube vid of a bloke building a paper kit of an Antonov An-76, which is no small aircraft. I was flabbergasted at how well produced the kit was and the level of detail. I mean it had a fully decked out interior including the cargo bay and seats. Then there was the size of the completed kit, OMG it filled a sizable table. And there were no plastic bits sticking out for the cat to break. I was that enthused I went onto eBay and found someone who sells paper kits. I was astounded by the sheer variety available. Needless to say I've ordered one (a little one to test the waters) and am busting for it to arrive in mid-August. So seeing that a paper modeller has arrived has got me beaming. I may even pick your brain if things get gnarly. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Hope you enjoy the site and visit often. :cheers2:

Novasquad23 What the hell, you just revived a 5 year old welcome post of someone who no longer models let alone visits the site

Jim did put up some pictures of some paper kits and he even entered a group build with one. I'm sure they're still archived, I've had a quick look, but couldn't see anything (they should still be about). Would be really interested in seeing yours when it arrives. :cheers2:
