"Achtung Baby!" My very first Diorama....Completed!

I finished my entry into Nigel Wells, North Africa Group Build. This is my very first attempt at doing a diorama and I was apprehensive about doing it. I actually almost tossed it for a simpler build.

I have three others that I have not begun but now that i understand placement and such, I am looking forward to starting them in the future.

Anyway, I post this so that my brothers and sisters, my fellow styrene addicts can enjoy and post tips if one so wishes. Thank you for watching and thanks to Mike ( Coen C, ClovernCross and a few others ) for the support in making this first possible......

Awesome job!!!
I really like the weathering on the armored car; just enough to show it's seen some action.

Hard to believe this is only your first diorama, because it looks really really good. It's quite obvious you put a fair bit of planning into it. The positioning of all the elements and figures does a lot more than just show your modelling skills. It's like the whole scene is telling a story of its own. Great work. You deserve the right to be proud of what you achieved. :thumb1:

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, it is my first diorama. I am so happy it came out well and was received as such also by my peers. I was very reluctant to post it but after showing it to Mike ( Coen C ) and what his reaction was to it, I decided to get over my fear of showing it and go for it.

I am deeply humbled by the response. I realize there could have been more done to dress it up, but I feared if I added more to it, I would have ruined it with too much "noise."

Again....Thank you for the kind words!

Gilbert

Thank you Alex.

I was raised listening to those greats. I even met Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy. My father had a liquor store on Maxwell street and when I was younger, John Lee Hooker would sit in front of it, next to Nate's Deli...the one where Aretha Franklin owned in the movie. I used to see him sitting out there every Saturday and Sunday when the "street market" ( Jew Town as it was then called because of the Jewish clothiers there ) was in full swing and he would play with the street band called.."The Maxwell street Blues Bland." That was before the Movie, "The Blues Brothers" and he was down and out. We also used to go to the old "Chess Records" studios on east 21st back in the 70's and listen to local bands record. Of course, Chess wasn't what it once was and the building was being rented by a string of different folks trying to revive it. The building it is in now was not the original one that was on 21st and Michigan ave. That was the one Muddy Waters played in...It is now Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven foundation.
