Eduard 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX

Hello,

I have finally finished the Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX. That was a gift from my friend Stefan in the Secret Santa's Gift Exchange that was followed by SSGE Group Build and hosted by Deron Shank.

The building of this kit was a real pleasure with virtually no fitting issues and almost no putty required. Although I lost some PE parts and broke both undercarriage (that's why it's not correctly placed) I am happy with the final result.
I used Gunze Sangyo Aqueous paints supported by Lifecolor Azure Blue for bottom side of the plane. It was followed by self made wash based on Van Dyke Brown dilluted with lighter liquid from Zippo and some exhaust stains made from various paints.

The finished kit represents the one that was flown in Libya, Spring 1943. It was piloted by Polish figher ace - Stanislaw Skalski, at this time Sqn Leader of Polish Fighting Team (detachment of Polish pilots fighting in Africa).

Nice job, Radzy....the weathering looks great. I do have a question though....is it because it's being photographed in the direct sunlight that it looks shiny, or, did you finish her with a semi-gloss or gloss coat?

Thanks for your good words

I didn't put any additional gloss/satin coat on top.
The effect of sunlight might be however amplified by remains of some post-decal gloss coat and fact I used aluminum / steel paints for chipping effects (although these were Vallejo acrylics , not the "real" metalizers).

Nice finished on your Spit Radek. I like the camo and xchipping effect on your Spitfire. I think this is the best aircraft model you done so far.
