Hello Guys

Thanks for such nice comments on my build. Mask from the montex are for two aircraft:
First: P-47D-16 of 510th FS 405th FG flown by Lt. Charles D. Mohrle St. Dizier France October 1944 - I choose this one :th:

Second: P-47D-15 of 65th FS 57th FG flown by Lt. James C. Hare Alto Corsica 1944

I tried to find some information about the pilot but with now results so far.
Here is some nice video about the aircraft itself:

Charles D. Mohrle

Born in 1921 in Oklahoma City to Charles A. Mohrle and Anne Downey Mohrle of Kansas City. Charlie spent most of his youth in Galveston, Texas, where he graduated from Kirwin High School. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 1 in Galveston and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the first National Boy Scout Jamboree in Washington, DC in 1937.
He was attending UT Austin when he responded to the attack on Pearl Harbor, by volunteering for the Army Air Corps in February 1942. After completion of basic flight training he was one of the original pilots assigned to the 510th Fighter Squadron, part of the 405th Fighter Group in South Carolina, which entered combat in Christchurch England in 1943. He completed 97 combat missions flying a P-47 and was highly decorated.Among other recognition, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and 16 Air Medals. He flew over the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and his Squadron was personally recognized by George S Patton for its support of the Third Army in France.
Following his military service he rejoined his family in Dallas, and worked in the property and casualty insurance business where he met his future wife, Dorothy Onley. They were married in 1948 at Cathedral Guadalupe. Charlie entered a new career as a commercial artist, studio owner, and ultimately partner in a local Advertising Agency. He was active in both professional and community organizations, serving as the president of the Advertising Artists Association. He was an active Boy Scout volunteer, serving in many capacities including as Scoutmaster of Troop 43, and was one of the first Explorer Scout Advisers. He drafted the first manual for the organization and operation of an Explorer Post and he was recognized by Circle Ten Council and the National BSA Council for his volunteer service with the Silver Beaver Award. He served on the financial committee at Cathedral Guadalupe, as well as the committee tasked with supervising the renovation of the Cathedral.
After his retirement he became a volunteer docent at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, where for the past 15 years he has been a fixture, passing along his love of aviation and his WW II experience to thousands of visitors each year. He was a founding member of the 510th Fighter Squadron Association, and created much of the artwork in its history book of WW II. A Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the P-47 Pilots Association, The Military Order of The World Wars, and The Quiet Birdmen. He died Peacefully At Home on Tuesday, 07th of May 2013.

And on this video in about 4th minute there is a picture of the pilot and aircraft itself.

Here is a compilation of WWII P-47 Fighter Ace Charlie Mohrle, who recounts numerous stories about the P-47 and his time in the European Theater during WWII:

Hello Folks

First update on my P-47D build. During the week I have some time to really start on building this kit. As usually I've started from the cockpit and painted it using Gunze interior green color, then I also paint using XF-4 yellow green wheal bays and wing spars and other areas in the cockpit based on the instruction. Next I've pick up all details in the cockpit using different colors for switches, boxes etc. I also put the PE parts for instrument dials and seat belts. This are pictures documented this stage of my build:
Image
Image
Image

As you can see on the pictures I've add some small chiping using silver artistic pen and dry brushed cockpit using silver enamel paint from Testors. Next I've weathered the cockpit by painting entire cockpit grime wash and then wipe the excess add some lead wire to simulate cockpit dials cables, then put all parts together and this is the results. I'm very happy how the cockpit looks like.

Next update should be pretty shortly so stay tunned. Thanks
Cheers

Hello

Short next update on my site. Basically Fuselage glue together and wing also. No problem at all some small seam line at the bottom of the fuselage but nothing major, small amount of Mr.Surfacer 500 will sort this out.

I have couple days off work so I try to work as much as possible on the two build on this form. Right now I'm working on the engine and the nacelle so tomorrow will be next update.
Stay tunned:)

Hello Again

My next update on P-47D build. Yesterday in the evening and during the night I manged to finished working on the resin engine. First I spray using metallic steal color entire engine, the mask the radiators and paint reduction gearbox using Natural Grey color. Then after the paint dries I put sealer for metalized paint from Testors and wait to dray. After that I washed engine using my new product from Ak-Interactive Aircraft Engine Effects Weathering Set, engine wash. I also add some push rods using metal thin wire and paint them black. Here it is how it looks after all this steps I mention:

Image

And with the engine nacelle itself that was weathered using grime clay wash.

Image

Then I installed engine to the fuselage and put engine nacelle. So most of the parts are glue together and the my "Jug" start to looks like P-47.:)

Hello Folks

I've been away from this build for a while, but my G4M1 Betty is almost finished so it's time to return and focus on this build. Last couple of days I spent on tiding up my P-47D.
I sanded smooth all seam lines, rescribe all panel lines, mask canopy using Eduard and home made masks. The I paint the canopy using interior green color installed on place.
I've also added brass metal gun barrels. So basically speaking my Jug is ready to put primer and start painting it  . In the mine time I remove from sprue and clean all small bits like ordnance, propeller and wheels.
Picture of the building stage I'm at the moment:
Image

Primer on should be during the weekend so stay tunned more updates pretty shorthly:)

Hello Again

This time my short update for P-47D build. During the weekend I have some time to work on my kit. Yesterday I put prime on it using Tamiya Surface Primer. During the priming session I discover some seam lines on the bottom of the fuselage that I have to care off. Today I spray black preshading on. So tomorrow I will start main painting. I will start from white strips on the fuselage and wings.
Some pictures of the progress so far:

Hello again Folks

Next short update. During the week from Monday till now I manged to start painting phase. First I spray white bands on the tail, engine cowling, horizontal stabilizers and wide band at the bottom of the fuselage. For this I used Gunze Mr.Color Off white paint. Then next day I mask the white areas. It took some time to mask all of this areas due to high curvature especially on the bottom of the fuselage. I also have to check if the decals after the painting will fit nicely with black white strips on the fuselage. Happy how the masking turn out today I spray all bottom surfaces Natural Grey from Gunze H47. Pre shading comes through rather nicely. I happy with the results so far. I need to do some bleaching effect on the underside.
As usually some pictures of the progress so far:

Image
Image

In the mean time I also work on the small bits. I paint bombs and bazooka rocket launchers using olive drab paints from Gunze and Tamiya. I will show them on my next post.
Cheers

As you wish
Yesterday I masked and sprayed Olive Drab from Gunze. I was very anxious about the results so I remove all the masking tape to see how it turns out. And This is it:

I'm very happy with the results :th:. I need to do some small corrections mainly in the white underside band, but nothing serious. Next will be some bleaching for the both colors.

Hello Folks

After some brake I return with my P-47D Razorback build. It very hot here in Poland this week so it's hard to work on modeling. But even that I finished painting process . Last to think was to spray white "cloud" on the engine cowling. I have hard moment with this painting because the white paint doesn't want to cover very well on top off olive drab. I should paint this white first before the olive drab color, especially that the masks for this where in the set I bought. But finally after some small correction with white overspray I manged to satisfy results. Then I masked and spray black strips under the fuselage using Tamiya XF-1 black. It wasn't so hard to mask this area, but key is to use thin masking tape, I use Tamiya 6 mm tape and cut it to the thinner strips around 2 mm. Today I spray clear gloss coat on top and the P-47D is ready for decals.
Some pictures before gloss coat :th:

Image
Image
Image

Ooo I forgot to mention that bleaching was done using base Gunze olive drab mixed with Off White color. After that I spray on top the highly diluted olive drab color to mute down the bleaching a little bit. That's it for now next post after the decals stage.
Cheers

Hello Folks

This is my next post for P-47D build. The decals are complete. They were plenty of them in the sheet. It takes three days to put all of them. But after four coats of micro they finally soaked in. I also glue the undercarriage and wheel covers.
Next step will by gloss coat to protect the decals and them weathering stage. Couple of pictures after the decals stage.

Small bits as rockets and bombs are also done. Prop and spinner complete so everything wait for the weathering stage.
Stay tuned.

Hello Folks

Last short update before final reveal. I finished weathering using enamel wash from Tamiya. All weapons also ready to installed. I only need to add some smoke staining and then spray matt coat on this and it will be done. Next pictures in reveal section.:)
