Global Scale Modeller

This is my first post (apart from the intro), so I'll jump straight into it. I started this build early this year and am still working on it, but I'm loving it so that's all that matters I guess

Hey Lee, thanks. No it's the one that came with the ambush scheme paint masks, only I didn't use them this time

I wanted to depict a late-war vehicle, and an usual one I hadn't seen depicted before, so I decided to go with a hypothetical version. I did, however, do my research and found that there were plenty of Hetzers with the 4-hole idler wheel in German service at the end of hostilities.

Looking good, love the extras. I've wondered about random loops, stowage points, camouflage anchor points or lifting lugs during assembly.

Thanks, Russ! Adding the extras is very satisfying me while building (if it goes right!), but so time consuming............lol

Okay, so now my Hetzer had his red-oxide base coat, but now he needed octo-camo.

I opted for Dunkelgelb dark yellow, and using yellow tack rolled into sausage shapes, I airbrushed the desired pattern.

The red circles were added with a fine paintbrush afterwards.

In the photos below I have already started the weathering process (before this it was very vivid!). Don't worry, it won't stay this bright for long.

Weathering was done with oils over a satin varnish NOT a gloss surface.

At this stage, the tracks are untouched.

Great work with model interesting camo + weathering and wash super - yet tracks and will be EXTRA MODEL. Well done mate !

Thanks! Yes, satin works fine for me. I'm using Vallejo paints as my base coats, and oils just for weathering. I have multiple satin varnish barriers in between each stage which is always left to dry thoroughly before weathering takes place.

Here's where I'm up to so far. I won't post anymore pics now until I'm finished.

And a few more pics................... I still need to work on the tracks, weathering the main gun, the exhaust, the periscopes, camo wire for holding branches, oil/fuel stains, add the towing cable and other little details, and then a simple base. More soon....................

This is looking great mate! The Jagdpanzer Hetzer 38(t) is one of my favorite AFV's of all time and you are doing her justice!

That's Wonderful Alex! I love the look of those chips my friend. I've tried a few times to do the multi-layered chipping but I can't get it to work most of the time. Now that I see yours I may be able to pull it off next time.

Looks excellent. I'm using the Aber kit on my Dragon Hetzer and it's so much fun to fit those little bits of PE. I'll have to try the chipping thing and the weathering thing with this one before I go with somthing larger.

Okay, I have finished the Hetzer.

It depicts Germany, Summer, 1945. A British tank crew discovered a abandoned Hetzer with strange camo; they were well acquainted with the beast, having being knocked out by it two days before the war in Europe ended. However, it seemed the American 463rd Ordnance Evacuation Battalion had already laid claim to the machine, their scrawl adorning the sun-bleached hull, ear-marking this vehicle to be picked up by one of their Dragon Wagon transporters.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but maybe some of you will like
