1:48 WW I aircraft kit brands

Hi

I am a WW II armor builder but am branching out to some Vietnam era, and late 20th century Armor, patrol boats, Landing craft, and now Aircraft. I have a couple WW2 aircraft kits and intend to get a few more of the famous aircraft, Spitfire, P -51 etc...

But I have always loved WW I aircraft and want to build a set of this eras famous crafts. But I only know a few famous ones like the Sopwith Camel and the Focker, the red Barron flew and not sure what it was.

So can any one,list off five or six of the top crafts of the era?

Also, what brand do you recommend, I see a lot of Edwurds

I believe they are a new company, making parts for kits like seatbelts. This is there first complete model plane, and what a kit it is

I would definitely recommend Eduard's 1/48 kits followed by Roden's kits. In terms of iconic aircraft on the German side you have the Albatros series of aircraft such as Eduards and the Fokker VII series like this the only aircraft to be specified in a surrender document. On the allied side you have the Nieuport scout aircraft such as this and the Bristol F2 fighter like this from Roden. Both manufacturers offer a wide range of kits in 1/48 scale for WWI you will need to do a bit of research to discover all of the options on joys of modelling aircraft in this era. If you have spare cash lying around the I would definitely recommend looking at Wingnut Wings 1/32 scale WWI kits. They are not cheap but they are the best kits for WWI aircraft.

Have Eduard Sopwith Camel and Nieuport Ni17 both 1/48 kits on order from E Bay sellers
and a Wingnut wings 1/32 Sopwith on backorder from HLJ
Back into the model kit collecting addiction.....was doing so well not ordering anything for months

Hi, yes I went to Telford , went to Gazpacho models, spoke to owner Costas, told him I wanted Salmson 2a 2 late, and he advised on extras.bought whole s ha bang , it was only when I got home and viewed found some wrong scale extras!. "E" mailed them and they sent correct parts free of charge, with apologies, Costas and his team are superstars, I intend returning this year and buying another kit, cannot fault their after sales service.

Thanks! Added to my shoppers list of places. I love WW I era and would like to focus more on that as time goes by. Seems everyone is more interested in WWII and modern day. But, that is my take on life.

Ha HA, I will have to put you in the will
She can't kill me yet, the insurance won't pay off the house.
She will just nag me slowly and surely over the next 30 years or so wearing me down
