New Meng Panzerhaubitz 2000 Self Propelled

Post by Donkeywalloper »

Holy Moly! This looks awsome.
Transcript from Meng.
During WWII, Germany was the country which developed and equipped the most self- propelled guns, including the well-known Hummel and Grille. After WW II, Germany also actively developed new self-propelled guns to face with more and more complicated world situation. In 1990s, Panzerhaubitze 2000 appeared. Once released, it was rapidly taken as reference to develop their new generation self-propelled howitzers by countries in the worldwide.
The PzH 2000’s overall length is 11.69m, width 3.54m and combat weight 55.8t. The vehicle utilizes a large number of chassis parts of Leopard 1 MBT and Leopard 2 MBT. It is powered by the MTU MT881 engine, which has excellent maneuverability; PzH 2000 is equipped with one 155mm/L52 gun from Rheinmetall, with an advanced sight and fire-control system; 60 rounds are stored vertically on board in a horseshoe arrangement; its automatic shell-loading system has realized automatic management of all ammunition and greatly improved the rate of fire, starting a new era of autoloaders. It has strong operational capability, maneuverability and superior protective capability. It is one of the most advanced self-propelled guns in the world. This vehicle entered German Army service in 1998, and then into armies of Italy, the Netherlands and Greece.
PzH2000 is the modern German Army’s pride. For its mighty exterior and strong operational capability, it is greatly welcomed and loved by most modellers. Through a long time of reference collection, study and analysis, finally MENG now releases this TS-012 1/35 scale German Panzerhaubitze 2000 Self-Propelled Howitzer plastic model kit. The model kit realistically represents the shape of the vehicle with a length of 339mm and a width of 102mm. Its height can be up to 300mm when the barrel is elevated. The distinctive model kit will be the unique and shining one in your model collection. The driver’s and crew’s hatches can be built in either open or closed position; the movable suspension system is perfectly reproduced; cement-free workable track links are easy to assemble; the metal barrel is time saving and easy to assemble, moreover, it can increase a sense of reality; five painting schemes are provided.

I want it and I want it now,
John

Who ever designed that was obviously over compensating for something else.

Looks like a fantastic kit. There are some pics of the unpainted model on facebook I believe. Looks really nice.
