Hi guys newbie question, wanted to see if I've got the idea of dry brushing straight do you use a light colour on dark to give highlights
and dark colour on light to give shadows thanks.

Hi
Mostly used to bring out details as in track treads , light over dark , remove most of the paint from the brush on kitchen roll, then just lightly go over the raised detail you wish to highlight
Hope this helps mate

A great trick I learned is not to thin the paint at all. You may want to try Citadels foundation paints for this they are awesome. Hope this helps.

Usually, a good example would be on figures....
You paint he uniform in its base color....
Then you would take the base color and add buff to lighten it a bit and then use the dry brush technique
to highlight pockets folds etc on the uniform...
Then you take that lightened mix and add a bit more buff to it to lighten it even more...
This mix you will only use to highlight certain areas not the whole uniform....
In doing so it starts to look as if the original base color is the shaded color thhus you get the base as shade and the drybrush areas as the lightened parts

Hope this makes sence

The only thing i would then add is the washes add the shadows deeper colours in the same way.
