Just used Akah paints for the first time

Well I haven't post for awhile, but it doesn't mean I haven't been busy.
I used my time of today to get some paint on a revell 1/32 mig 29, now I know this is not your standard scheme but the blue colors in the akah paint range are cool. So I pick these up from the northern model show.
I did find a picture on the net with the mig 29 / ub in these colors so I went with it.

Now I've got a bit to do but I thought I'd share my experience with these new paints.
Well I can say that they are excellent, when I bought them the chap said just thin them with water as they seem to thicken up when used with some thinners, so I used water only and thinned then around 20%, they spray great with minimal tip dry, at high pressure they dry smooth and at low pressure you can retain a good amount of control.
The finish is smooth and drys quick, after an hour I gave the rough spots a quick once over with a fine buffer. No pealing and seemed tough.
See what you think any how, but I do recommend the paint it is very forgiving.
Martin.

Yep they are superb paints, I didn't like them thinned with water but they do like Ultimate thinner and sprayed perfectly. I've got a good range of their colours now and can't speak more highly of them

Paul what do you think the advantages are of using Ultimate thinner? Do they cover better ? With water they seemed fine maybe a bit opaque but for Russia jets that seems a norm as they always look washed out and adds another weathering layer.
But I do like the results, I'm going to lighten the inner panels a touch on the kit and then a wash to give it a used hard look.
I'll keep you all posted.

I found they dried better and airbrushed better too, lighten the panel centre and edges then add darker figure of eights and random patterns accross the panels that gives a very nice used effect :thumb2:
