Best 1/48 F-18 kit?

Post by robertw »

I didn't want to ask this but my head is spinning from looking. What 1/48 F-18 would you guys consider the best? There's just SO many options out there. To narrow it down a bit I'd like to buy some photo etch detail for it. At least cockpit detail. Possibly even some resin detail. I've been looking at Hasegawa but still not sure what to get. Make any suggestion you guys want to as far as manufacturer goes. It's also not a big deal if it's not a very accurate kit detail wise. As long as it looks like an F-18 in general I'm happy. Money is... I wouldn't say no object as I don't want to spend $100+ but don't hold back just because it's expensive.

The hasegawa one is quite good. You already have a little photoetched sheet and the white metal landing gears.

The hobby boss is nice too, even if a little less accurate in the details.

If you think "ok let's be foolish", you can buy the tamiya one..but the prices can be higher.

Good hunting

I believe the Revell one gets almost as good praise as the Hasegawa and HB ones. But with a much lower price tag. There is also a plethora of AM parts for this kit too.
