Cool choice, mate! :thumb1:

Here's a link to my Youtube account of a video I posted this year from a trip to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral Florida. Included in the video are images of the actual Space Shuttle Discovery that might be useful for you when detailing.

The problem is my kit is missing the front shuttle mount and the extra vertical stabilizers for the tail.
I contacted revell, and they are supposed to be sending the parts, but who knows when I'll get them.
Until the parts arrive, I really can't do any more as I don't want to mount the wings and gear
to make it easier to work on the fuselage while locating the shuttle struts.
If the parts don't arrive soon, I may have to scratch build them myself, because you need the front strut
to be installed to find the proper locations for the rear struts.

I have started fiddling with plan for the base.

Looking like a smart build. Revell are quite good when it comes to replacing parts, i had to order a new Ejection seat for my B1 as it had a meeting with the vacuum cleaner, think it was in my hand about 2 weeks after i had contacted them about it.

well it's been about 8 weeks so far, and no parts yet,
the rest of the kit is finished and ready to go.

Just a quick update; :bash:
Still no parts from Revell, so I sent an e-mail, after a week with no answer,
I decided to call, after trudging thru 20 minutes of autobots taking me around in circles,
I just kept pressing 0 until I actually got a live human.
The lady I spoke to, I wish I remembered her name, found my order on the computer, and said
that a shipping label had been printed, but she couldn't access any more info from her computer but she would
call the customer service manager to find out what was what, and let me know.

Well...2 days pass and I got an e-mail from the CSM,
Due to a "clerical error"my order placed on July 2 was not processed until August 2, and it would take another
8-12 weeks for the parts to arrive.

Can you see the blood rising, and the steam shooting out of my ears yet?

So I walked away for about 2 hours to keep from typing things in my response in a tone that I might regret later,
I spent another 2 hours carefully crafting a response that expressed my displeasure and disappointment
with the situation, and how poorly it was being handled, along with a little nose rubbing on how when I had a problem with
a kit from another company, the new parts were in my hand in 4 days, I sent off the e-mail response to revell's CSM.

2 hours later an autobot e-mail from revell said my parts had been shipped, and should arrive in 2-3 weeks,...
We'll see, revell is only about 200 miles from my house, so even if they send them by carrier pigeon, 2 weeks seems a bit long.

Well, with the missing parts now in hand,
final assembly is underway.

I added brass wire to reinforce the mounting points, which will be painted to match the struts.

Almost there, a few decals and detail parts still to add*

*No, the large rotor blades in the pic are not part of this one!
