Hi Bob.
Looks like an interesting kit of a fascinating aircraft. Subbed you so that I can follow your progress.
Best of luck with the rest of the build.

Thankx Will,
I'm really liking this kit so far, lots of detail to the molding,
and appears to all fit together well.
There are, like with most kits a few issues, like some flash,
the cockpit is way basic and the pilot and gunner are not great, but at least you get them,
and under the canopy, who could tell anyway.
The prop hub is not correct, but can be fixed.
The only real cons I have with this kit so far are that there are no
provisions for rigging, and the canopy is really thick and molded in one piece.
The rigging issue has be covered by adding the anchors using model HO train lift ring
locomotive detail parts as seen in the build logs, and the EZ Line is ordered and on the way.
I may try my hand at vacuum-forming to get a better canopy, or just
live with it.

The diorama base will copy the box art, and I WILL post progress pics, so far, there's just a hole drilled in the base.

I built this as a kid and have been thinking about getting it again. I know that I'm going to get it now. Thank you for sharing this and bringing back some fond memories.

Duck work
base started
we start with a peel and stick tile
mounted on Imex display case base, mounting post installed, and water effect applied to make the waves and wake
the gel will turn clear as it cures
the wave effect
brass mount implanted in the duck
mock up
I will be adding poly fill to hide the rod and to simulate the spray

r0bert! GREAT work!!!

what a cool way to show off a Duck!! and thanks for the water techniques!! I have never tried to do any seaplanes specifically due to them having to be near water!
Again great work!!
PS: Ever see Murphy's War? Great flying scenes with a Duck
